Codes of Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility

Introduction

Corporate social responsibility, often known as CSR, is an automated business concept that assists companies in becoming socially responsible, not just for themselves but also for their stakeholders and the general public. Companies can be aware of the influence they have on all parts of society, including the environment, the economy, and society as a whole, when they engage in what is known as corporate social responsibility, also referred to as corporate citizenship. A firm is said to practice corporate social responsibility (CSR) when it conducts its day-to-day operations in a manner that contributes positively to society and the natural environment rather than adversely. To complete this task, we have been given the directive to choose a business that piques our interest and investigate the Company’s policies regarding ethics and corporate social responsibility. The Company Amazon, Inc. will be the primary subject of my report.

Codes of Ethics

A business’s code of ethics is a highly essential component for several reasons, the most significant of which is that it outlines the standards that must be adhered to while on the job. It is a handbook that outlines the competent models that all of the organization’s workers and delegates must plan. Even though it often addresses internal leadership, the primary emphasis is on what is expected from employees when they are engaged in activities driven by customers’ needs Amazon Inc. has a code of ethics document that instructs its workers and stakeholders on how to behave in a legal and ethical way while also looking out for the Company’s best interests. The guide’s purpose is to articulate guiding principles that will direct their behavior when operating on behalf of the firm in business dealings. Trading policies, harassment and discrimination, safety and health, a conflict of interests, payments to government authorities, financial integrity and accountability, and the mechanisms that should be utilized to report infractions in the Company are the primary focuses of the guidelines for this particular Company.

Corporate Social Responsibility

The executives in charge of business operations at Amazon.com, Inc. are beginning to emphasize the corporate social commitment driving success for their Company. Even though there are occasions when it might be challenging, doing so would not be detrimental to the Company as a whole. The vast majority of companies have come to terms with the idea that their corporate social responsibility initiatives include plans with potentially undesirable results, which makes them uncomfortable. Its negative effects include distracting the market from the activities it should be concentrating on and leading to undue corporate responsibility. However, from a more holistic perspective, it will likely be more beneficial than harmful to the businesses that choose to include it in their strategic objectives.

Corporations go through a lot of trouble to attain acceptable production and sustainability. It has been shown that most businesses are unsuccessful during their first five years of operation. It is not unheard of to discover that one will be around out of three different enterprises after ten years. Research suggests that there is no specific time frame for the firm’s success; nevertheless, research also reveals that focusing on the nuts and bolts is essential to building a strong foundation for any enterprise. Any company should begin by developing products or services it can provide customers. Once these have been developed, the Company should focus on delivering them and ensuring that this process is carried out effectively to generate profits. Even more importantly, the Company has to make sure that it converts the profits from the trades into cash and puts processes in place to ensure that the accounts are not used improperly.

Regarding corporate social responsibility issues, Amazon Inc. does not neglect its obligations. Most of its attention is directed at projects that benefit the local communities where it operates. Amazon Inc should be mindful that these stakeholders are highly important to the firm as a whole because they significantly impact how customers perceive the items that the Company supplies. In other words, Amazon Inc should recognize that these stakeholders are important to the Company. Education, medical treatment, and protecting the natural environment are the focal points of most of Amazon Inc’s projects and initiatives. In the current fiscal year, they have reserved a relief fund with a total value of 25 million dollars to guarantee that they can cope with the negative impacts of the epidemic caused by the Corona Virus.

They have also continued to promote the girls who code and have also committed to empowering their staff by ensuring that they give educational options to those individuals. The enterprise has guaranteed to continue to be sustainable by ensuring its operations are sustainable. Specifically, the enterprise has ensured that it employs scientific techniques to cut carbon emissions and manufactures private-label goods responsibly (Dudovisky,2020). Furthermore, Amazon, devoted to nurturing and maintaining a diverse and equality-driven place of work, aggressively searches out applicants from schools and institutions that serve ethnically diverse communities, along with organizations committed to encouraging minorities in the technology industry. In addition to these inclusive recruiting procedures, Amazon is continually increasing the number of job opportunities available to persons with disabilities in the United States and worldwide.

Before a business is considered socially responsible, it must demonstrate that it is accountable to its management and shareholders. Businesses that decide to implement CSR programs have often achieved financial success that allows them to contribute to the communities in which they operate. As a result, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is often a strategy that major firms apply. After all, a firm has a greater obligation to its peers, competitors, and industry to create ethical conduct standards in proportion to the organization’s visibility and success. CSR is vital for a business to engage in because it is essential for the community. CSR activities help workers and organizations build a better link with one another, enhance morale, and assist workers and managers in feeling more involved in the global community around them.

In conclusion, the most important goal that every person should strive for is improving the monetary strategies to achieve social development. In any event, fruitful endeavors and increased productivity are not certain to be achieved without advancement. The concept of corporate social responsibility demonstrates that businesses face various obstacles that contribute to their businesses not performing well, such as climate change and an elevated poverty rate within the community in which they operate. These challenges are causing businesses to struggle across the globe. In light of this, I believe that businesses’ social responsibility is essential in the modern world.
