Analyzing Creativity as a Core Aspect and Its Importance in the Workplace

Introduction 

Creativity is differently understood from variated prospects according to the relevant application. There has been a gradual conceptual evolution of Creativity for creating and producing different forms. Creativity involves creating a realm of ideas that foster productivity through unmatched and unfamiliar creations. Human nature is psychologically programmed to have personal fulfillment to reach its goals. Creativity is directly related to personal fulfillment, enhancing the capacity to invent and develop ideas and solutions in various situations. There is the use of imagination in building ideas from creative fronts in production and creation to create something substantial from the respective aspect or situation.

Understanding Creativity

Psychologists worldwide have related Creativity to a cognitive process that is applied in problem-solving techniques, and it is used through different methods to come up with the most creative and appropriate solutions. All individuals possess a certain amount of Creativity, which, in less realization, creates a balance between the actual conscious and deliberate actionable thoughts and imagination from stored information (Dhiman and Dhiman, 2017). Individuals who display an open nature to experience are perceived to be more creative; hence, the reception of new ideas and experiences is simplified in their brains. There are characteristics tied to Creativity, such as positivity, persistence, and emotion processing, which foster and have a significant impact on the creative abilities of various human beings.

The Creative Process

The presentation of a problem for the acquisition of the most effective solution would see the initiation of the process-based technique in the application of Creativity. The method of coming up with appropriate ideas and solutions for solving problems using an inventive and innovative approach is called the creative process. Sawyer (2012) develops a framework that shows a step-by-step approach to applying cognitive Creativity, with eight stages of the creative process.

  6. Combine ideas
  7. Select the best ideas
  8. Externalize ideas

The above stages are implemented to prepare and incubate for the development of insights and ideas for problem-solving techniques to be applied in the most appropriate situations. The process involves adequate strategizing that would help make connections and realize suitable approaches for problem-solving. It is developed and implemented after the solution is appropriately articulated (Sawyer, 2021).

The relationship between Creativity and businesses 

In the modern business world, there are different approaches that are used to impact design thinking, problem solving, and Creativity in general in organizations. I will relate creativity to businesses, considering the experience of different applications and techniques in my workspace that are applied on creative grounds. The relationship between Creativity and businesses is displayed in the need for innovative fronts of problem solving and appropriate decision making. Entrepreneurial success in the previous years has been linked to innovation as a significant success factor. Creativity lays the ground for entrepreneurs to create a difference through new ideas that would capture and respond to market needs; consequently, there is the likelihood of business success from the actionable difference (Kruger, 2005). Innovation in organizations and business places is directly connected to Creativity with the foundation of new and unique ideas that are transformed into tangible outcomes during creation and production. Innovation should be approached by individuals who bear a positive mindset and are ready to explore innovative ways amidst all risks to be able to achieve a particular result or outcome; risk-taking is preferably taken as a significant characteristic that business people should bear in their endeavors to achieve their goals. Organizational success is dependent on the ability of production to reach the preset financial business goals of the organization. This relationship implies that the Workplace should be equipped with all needed aspects that would foster Creativity in production and operations around the Workplace.

The Need for Creativity in the Workplace

Creativity fosters innovation in the Workplace.

Rosak (1986) states that there are differentiated ways of thinking in different individuals and this relays thinking to be a true art. Insights and illuminations bring out new interplays from creative fronts that would involve the formation of valuable structures for inventive effects with these interplays. Innovation in the workplace is enhanced in all aspects, including production, to come up with concepts and ideas that influence the organization to achieve its targets positively. Higher stages of Creativity bring out better prospects and results from extreme potentiality. I have learned from workplace experience that creative solutions are consistently effective in reaching specific desired outcomes.

Creativity provides Problem-Solving techniques in the workspace.

I have experienced the Workplace to be an institution that requires active participation from operational fronts. There should always be individuals on their toes for maximum provision of quality services. In this case, there are abrupt cases where there is a need to come up with solutions that are aimed at addressing emerging complications or issues in the Workplace. The immediate need for coming up with solutions at the Workplace is a business necessity that is incorporated as one of the mitigations against risks when it comes to proper business management (Lam, 2014). Innovative problem-solving is an essential skill that improves efficiency in the Workplace and fosters the growth of the business through these solutions. Increased engagement in processes has grown to become crucial for employees in the Workplace as this provides them with an opportunity to showcase their various levels of Creativity.

Increased adaptability in the workforce

From previous experience in the Workplace, change management has always remained to be a critical framework that needs to be approached keenly with effective management. This relates to Creativity as creative employees are bound to quickly adapt to change byby embracing new processes and technologies implemented in the Workplace. Creativity includes characterizingthe openness, where there is room to develop new ideas and integrate existing ideas for better and more effective performance. Adaptability involves navigating through uncertainty and building resilience, where Creativity is used as a resource to get through the perceived situation. Creativity improves operational progression to ensure accuracy in reaching business goals within the organization.

Creativity improves collaboration in the Workplace.

In reflection to past experience, I have witnessed Creativity to indulge collective effort. Creativity is about what people do better and together to institutionalize new ideas and concepts; the essence of Creativity is seen as dialectical (Shorthose and Maycroft, 2016: 168). A fulfilling working environment is seen through employee engagement; this is implicated as Creativity enhances commitment from employees as they are able to express their skills and hence handle operations with perfection. Sharing of ideas is increased through collaboration and employees engage creative thinking to build upon each other’s contributions to foster for quick problem solving.

Challenges faced in deploying Creativity in the Workplace and Possible Solutions

Decentralization in most workplaces is implemented to improve the autonomy of operations; however, it poses a significant threat to Creativity in the Workplace as there is a lack of strategic decisions, hence disruption in effective communication around the Workplace. The formation of a proper and directed flow of information makes Creativity and involvement easier around the Workplace; an appropriate flow of communication will enhance Creativity through adequate engagement and motivational fronts for the workforce.

Lack of proper innovation strategies and empowerment in the organization hinders Creativity in the Workplace (Gumusluoglu and Ilsev, 2009). Employee empowerment presents support from organizational leaders that would enhance a conducive environment for innovation. The organization should ensure for proper laid out and formulated strategies that are aimed towards engaging the workforce and improving creative thinking among employees. Innovation is a critical success factor within organizations and leadership support is crucial to foster and empower Creativity. By empowering and motivating employees and including unstructured time, employees are encouraged to engage in creative innovation. Co-creativity is described to be a result of the interaction between an individual, who is the creator, and their surrounding; this implies Creativity to be described as contextual and interactive. Addressing these challenges with effective solutions would ensure maximum risk mitigation with increased anticipation of problems Creativity maximizes. The businesses and organizations should ensure that there are adequate strategies which are put in place to impact Creativity among the workforce. Increased empowerment and innovation fronts help the organization to attain its goals in the business and successful management around the Workplace.

Conclusion

This study follows the various aspects of Creativity and describes the implications of Creativity and inventiveness in the Workplace. Creativity is built upon imaginations that are drivers of achieving a specific desired result in the long run. Employee engagement in the Workplace fosters Creativity and increases the production qualities of desired outcomes. Work experience increases the level of Creativity with time, and in the long run, there is perfection in individualistic skills or professions. Collaboration around the Workplace is also fostered as employees enjoy working together and exploring new and fresh ideas to solve various problems around the organization and increase problem anticipation for the organizational success in the long run.
