This paper will offer an elaborate comparison of the business-IT alignment of Amazon’s line selling commodities to customers and the line selling cloud IT services. The paper will also elaborate on the synergy across these lines and how Amazon incorporates diversity in its hiring practices.
Amazon operates two main business fronts: the line selling IT cloud services to organizations and the line selling commodities to consumers. According to CNBC, Amazon’s cloud service plays a significant role in the organization as it offers a flexible and scalable cloud computing avenue (Bloomberg, 2017). Through AWS, amazon’s business model has managed to leverage technology and reduce costs while enhancing the company infrastructure without investing heavy capital into the business model. The business-IT alignment in the cloud service division can be seen through the ability of the division to guarantee flexibility and scalability (Sag, 2023). AWS is designed so that in case of an increase or decrease in consumer demand, the company can make adjustments without disrupting the supply chain process, thereby ensuring efficiency in the supply chain. Furthermore, the web service ensures that resources can be adjusted automatically depending on the workload to help ensure efficiency during the supply chain and guarantee customer satisfaction (Sag, 2023). A synergy must be created between the cloud service line and customer product line as this guarantees that the company can leverage technology to ensure efficiency in the supply chain process, e-commerce operations, and customer satisfaction. The two lines have a strong synergy as they rely on each other’s capabilities to ensure that Amazon remains the leader in the supply chain industry. Amazon relies on heavy technological infrastructure to ensure the e-commerce platform’s seamless operation. These technological infrastructures are AWS’s backbone, allowing Amazon to ensure its clients receive reliable and scalable cloud services (Sag, 2023).
