Write About a Time When You Had to Act Interdependently

Professor Joel announced that the class would be holding a cooking project that would allow students to demonstrate the importance of teamwork or lack of it. She divided the students into three groups and asked them to select a simple dish they would need to prepare. Then, she explained all the steps involved within thirty minutes. I was grouped with one lady called Marion and a gentleman named Antony. Marion was a disciplined student in her academics and an excellent cook. The entire class recognized her for her superb culinary art skills. I was not passionate about cooking, but being with Marion in the same group gave me hope that our performance would be excellent. On the other hand, Antony, though not a skilled cook, was an excellent time manager who would stay on time even by a second. Toward the end of the class, Professor Joel asked us to prepare for the project, including identifying the ingredients and preparing a recipe.

A few minutes later, Marion, Antony, and I met at the back of our class. We all agreed to cooperate during the preparation session and demonstration for a successful project. Our preparation involved brainstorming different recipes to help identify the best and assigning duties to each of us. After various suggestions from each of us, we decided to settle for fluffy pancakes. We then assigned Antony to shop for the ingredients from the market. Meanwhile, Marion prepared the breakfast recipe, and I gathered all the cooking wares and ingredients together. However, during the class demonstration project, Antony collected all the ingredients and cookingware. At the same time, I read the recipe, and Marion prepared the fluffy pancakes according to the steps indicated in the recipe.

On the day of the actual demonstration, Antony gathered all the ingredients, including one large egg, two tablespoons of white sugar, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of milk, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once Antony had gathered the ingredients, Marion and I joined together to do the actual preparation. I would read all the steps involved while Marion did the actual preparation. The entire pancake preparation procedure involved nine steps: pre-heating the oven and ending with serving the pancakes immediately while still hot. It took us a total of 30 minutes to prepare ten pancakes. Professor Joel was amused with our performance and awarded us an A.
