Located in Atlanta, Georgia Department of community health is a state-designated entity that oversees healthcare in the state. To ensure quality healthcare among the resident, the entity is responsible for creating a state health benefits plan, a unique structured procedure offering insurance benefits to state employees, civil servants, retirees, and their dependents (HealthIT.gov). In addition to the plan, the state-designated entity acts as the lead agency for Georgia Medicaid. Peach care kids, also an initiative of the entity, ensures the welfare of the infants and expectant mothers is considered.
To effectively carry out the overseeing roles among the state of rural health and health regulation department, the Georgian state-designated entity (SDE) uses health information exchange systems provided by the national coordinator’s office for health information technology (Lemma et al., 2020). With the funding programs and the introduction of State HIE Cooperative Agreement Program grantees, the Georgia state entity has achieved technological effectiveness in its monitoring programs. The grantees have improved the effectiveness of health exchange systems, which is evident in reduced health costs and improved healthcare. In Georgia Medicaid, a facility monitored by the Georgia department of community health, patient medical information is securely shared with the caregivers without breaching their privacy (…). With the $ 2 million award granted to the state cooperation agency grantees in Georgia, the specialist devised a treatment network between the patients and their primary caregivers.
The Georgian Health exchange program securely shares patients’ medical information with doctors, nurses’ laboratories, and pharmacists. Taking ins to accountants, the information is shared electronically, and the speed of service deliveries is assured. To ensure confidentially in the shared information, the grantees have created a directed exchange mechanism to ensure the patient’s information is encrypted. The encryptions are promoted by an end-to-end dashboard that ensures information can s only be shared with one health attendant at a time. The grantees also created a consumer-mediated exchange within the hospitals under Georgia jurisdiction. Patients, whether in the hospital or nursing home, have access to their medical records, which they can provide to other care providers to escape the expenses of dual diagnosis(Apathy & Holmgren, 2020). Medicaid, which provides health coverage to Americans, uses health information technology to coordinate s its covered facilities. At the Georgia department of community health, patients can have an online financial baking service where they save for their medical expenses. Incorporating affordability and patients’ financial status depends on the State HIE Cooperative Agreement Program grantees. In Georgia, the grantees have devised financial information-sharing forums whereby the health facilities can access patients’ financial savings and use the information to determine the eligibility to be covered by Georgia Medicaid.
Regarding implementing the health information exchange, the program trainees check on the quality of the information transferred from the hospitals to the Medicaid database. In Georgia, the quality of patient information is checked by a parallel system implemented by cooperative agreement grantees. The exchange program ensures that the patient’s medical information is not compromised through alteration or deletion. The corporation, which acts as the quality assurance agency, reviews the strategic plan made by the health facilities and checks their conformity to the national standards (Lemma et al., 2020). In the Georgian state-designated entity, the grantees, through data check-ups, have reduced the errors s in patients’ medical assessment and also promoted accuracy in financial plans, such as a tool used to determine the insurance plans for the state retirees and working personnel. Health insurance portability and assurance security rule make the national patient data transfer and use standards. In the HIE cooperative program, the grantees use data usage policies to strengthen administrative safeguards within the Georgia state department entity. Through the stringent scrutiny programs in the medical facilities, Georgia state has achieved integrity and confidentiality regarding health information.
