Fishbone analysis

Fishbone analysis

Fishbone analysis is a cause and effect that can be used to determine the root cause of BC Children’s Hospital issue (ASQ, 2023). In this Hospital, the workforce in charge has contributed to developing the issue of failing to recognize employees’ ideas since they do not provide adequate training, and lack enthusiasm and knowledge to train and manage a remote workforce. Additionally, the methods for running this organization have loopholes including the non-inclusion of employees in the decision-making process, unstandardized onboarding, and lack of expertise in employee engagement programs. Additionally, employees operate in a remote-unfriendly working environment that is managed by uninformed HR managers, unqualified training coordinators, and inactive team leaders who do not understand the need to prioritize employees’ diverse opinions. The above analysis shows that the company has poor feedback channels and ineffective communication tools. Additionally, there is a poor engagement score, a high frequency of remote work check-ins, and ineffectiveness of the onboarding process which has contributed to low self-esteem among employees (BC Children’s Hospital, 2023).

Solution and recommendations

Based on the above analysis, the HR team should implement an adaptive management style that will support employees’ needs as they work remotely. For instance, the management style should ensure flexibility, which will boost employee’s work-life balance. Additionally, the company with the aid of HR experts should enhance its communication channels by training the entire work on the significance of respecting each other perspectives, which will boost trust and innovativeness. Additionally, the HR team must train employees in cross-functional collaboration skills, which would enhance information exchange across the functional units. Furthermore, BC Children’s Hospital can adopt employee-centered virtual events that will entail engaging in fun-making activities where employees can share stories focusing on professional and socially based events. Most importantly, the HR team should shape a more structured onboarding process by focusing on training employees and making them understand the company’s values better.
