In this analysis, I will look at various models and frameworks such as stakeholder analysis, organization structure, and organization purpose SWOT analysis. I will look at how the models have led to the current position of Brundys hotel. I will also look at current issues that Brundys hotel is facing.

Organization Purpose

Organizational purpose is the driving force that enables a particular organization to succeed and enhance effective productivity. Various corporate purposes, such as vision, mission, and values, allow an organization to acquire effective productivity (Jivet et al., 2018). Organizations must use their purposes to develop employees and equip them with appropriate skills and training. TheAn organization’s mission an important statement that shows what the organization hopes to achieve. A vismore specific vision statementows what the organization plaplans achieve in the future (Ngoc Su et al., 2021). Values include the guiding principles and policies that the organization uses to achieve success and acquire effective production. For successful organizations, it is essential to have a mission that includes the goals and objectives, vision, and values.

Brundys is a large hotel owned by the Burnham family in Chicago, United States. Due to family ownership, Brundys hotel has its mission, vision, and values (Yacoub & ElHajjar, 2021). The Hotel aims to extend the number of hotels in the United States. Currently, they have one Hotel and they are planning to open a second hotel near the riverfront section of Chicago. The Hotel has a mission to provide exemplary service to guests. The place where the second Brundys hotel was to open used to be another hotel but was closed (Lewis et al., 2017). The Hotel aims to increase the number of employees with quality skills and training to improve the service and profit. This includes increasing the number of family-related employees whody to work appropriately to increase the proorganization

‘s productivityn terms of vision, Brundys hotel is planning to have more hotels in the future all around the United States. The Hotel is much involved in extending the project therefore, it enables the supervisors to participate in their role appropriately while looking after the employees (Argyris, 2017). The Hotel superiors, such as Jeff and Cindy are planning to resolve the current management issues to protect their children, Michael, Brandon, and Julie, from experiencing them when they take over the Hotel. The Hotel is creating suitable values for effective development. For example, the management has been involved in creating policies that will enhance effective success in the future (Meredith et al., 2017). The management has decided to enquire for outside help, avoiding nepotism and employing other individuals outside the family. However, they still want to maintain their family-based atmosphere and culture.

Organizational Structure

The organizational structure involves a process that enables an organization to arrange its business and employees. In some situations, organization structure shows how information flows within management levels (Helmreich et al., 2018). It is essential to introduce organizational structure to improve efficiency and communication. The strorganization’s structure essential since it provides roles and guidelines on how an organization funfunctionsd makes decisions. The structure is suitable within an organization since it shows the relationship of different parts within the organization (Funk, 2017). This enables the organization to present its responsibilities and authority to each management level. The best organizational structure for an organization depends on its size, the number of employees, and objectives.

The Brundys Hotel has a suitable organizational structure that enables it to arrange its employees and objectives. For example, the Hotel has a structure that enables the family members to be the head of the organization (Ting-Toomey & Dorjee, 2018). Jeff is the chief executive officer, Chad is the vice president of community relations, and Cindy is the director of human resources. This structure enables the family to control the activities appropriately. The structure enables the organization to hand over the authority and responsibility to other line managers, thus enhancing effective management (Schonfeld & Swann, 2022). The Hotel develops a suitable structure that enables employees to work in various sections. For example, various employees work in the Hotel and others on the garden terrace restaurant.

The Hotel of Brundys, through the help of Jeff and Cindy has led to the development of the current structure through renovation to increase the profit. This has enabled the Hotel to be creative and thus create a plan to build other hotels across Chicago. Organizational management has been essential since it has enabled the Hotel to acquire development in the Human Resources department (de Sousa Jabbour et al., 2019). The Hotel has arranged for various employees to work in guest rooms and front desks thus delivering effective service (Kubilius & Bordeianu, 2021). It is important to apply organizational structure in the Hotel to ensure the activities run smoothly and ensure the tasks are successful. This will enable the Hotel to acquire effective productivity and employ more employees.

Stakeholder analysis

A stakeholder analysis is a process that involves identifying and assessing the key shareholders within an organization or a project. The analysis ensures the stakeholders are widely considered and their interests are enhanced throughout the project. The analysis is essential since it helps to determine all the stakeholders in the project or an organization (Ting-Toomey & Dorjee, 2018). The analysis shows how the concerns of each stakeholder are handled. The analysis helps to evaluate the means of approaching stakeholders by engaging them in a development plan. The importance of stakeholder analysis is to show the concerns and interests of stakeholders in the organization.

The main stakeholders in Brundys hotel are the Burnham family members such as Jeff and Chad who are brothers and Cindy who is Chad`s wife. For example, Jeff is the chief executive officer while Chad is the vice president of community relations and Cindy is the director of human resources (Richardson & Jackson, 2018).. The three individuals are widely considered the main stakeholders, therefore, they are the first to acquire information about any concern in the Hotel. In the case of opening new projects, the three individuals are the ones involved in making decisions and controlling the project. For example, they have been planning to open a second Brundys hotel near the riverfront section, thus they are accountable for the expenses (de Sousa Jabbour et al., 2019). They have planned to extend their organization in the United States by opening more hotels within two years.

Although their sons and daughters such as Michael, Brandon, and Julie take on various responsibilities in the Hotel, they are also considered stakeholders in the Hotel. The authority and responsibility given to their kids have helped to shape them to manage the Hotel in the future (Schonfeld & Swann, 2022). The children will take over the management after their parents hence widely regarded in case they raise concerns. The application of stakeholder analysis is essential since it has enabled the main stakeholders in Brandys hotel to achieve their interests (Kubilius & Bordeianu, 2021). The stakeholder analysis has enabled the Hotel to run smoothly by giving managers and supervisors the authority to check on employees. The stakeholder analysis is suitable since it has led to a suitable plan for opening other Brundys hotels.

SWOT Analysis

A SWOT analysis is a strategic tool that is essential in measuring the strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of an organization. The information from SWOT analysis enables an organization to make suitable decisions that involve the allocation of resources (Rześny-Cieplińska et al., 2019). SWOT analysis operates in a way that enables the organization to identify its strengths through the help of internal factors such as financial stability and competitive advantage. The second step includes identifying weaknesses with the help of factors such as costs (Schmitz et al., 2017). The third step involves identifying opportunities through the help of external factors such as technology and new competitors. The final step includes the identification of threats by looking at external factors rise of new competitors and the change in customer preferences.

The Hotel of Brundys has various strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to its performance. The application of SWOT analysis in Brandys hotel has enabled the managers and supervisors to allocate resources equally (Funk, 2017). Identification of SWOT analysis has enabled the Hotel to improve performance thus increasing productivity. The analysis has enabled the Hotel to identify its strong and weak areas hence applying suitable strategies to control the situation. Brundys hotel has the following SWOT analysis.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Brundys hotel is performing better thus profit and improving productivity. Through the development of the family atmosphere, the Hotel can access employees easily through referrals. The Hotel has emphasized the mission to improve the service of the guests and employees. The Hotel is offering exemplary service to guests. Currently, the Hotel has done well financially although few expenses have occurred due to the renovation of the structure. However, various issues such as attendance problems from the employees, little accountability for performance, supervisors reluctant to discipline the employees, nepotism, some employees doing little with no repercussion, financial losses mount, and poor management decisions have occurred. The Hotel needs to establish suitable strategies to solve the problems and enhance effective productivity.

PART B

Introduction

The operation of Brundys hotel has experienced various challenges due ownership of family members. The link between the employees’ due relationships with the family members has led to positive and negative impacts. Some of the challenges identified in Brundys hotel include poor supervision due to family relationships (Levin et al., 2020). Lack of appropriate skills and training for employees. Employees have no handbook and the organization lacks strategic management. The lack of format structure is another challenge identified in the Hotel. Other challenges include attendance problems and little accountability for performance (Helmreich et al., 2018). However, to control this situation, the Hotel needs to implement suitable skills such as communication and meeting, project management, and operation management.

Project management and operation management skill

The skill of project management and operation management is essential for the success and performance of an organization. Operation management involves dealing with strategic organization problems systematically from day to day while project management involves the organizing, planning, and controlling of resources (Baum & Rowley, 2017). Through the theory of obsolete, there is a consideration that the fields of management and operation are interdependent. The theory involves engaging in the planning process, executing the plans, and afterward controlling them. Effective performance and control of processes enable an organization to acquire productivity.

Application of project management and operation management skills

Various organization has particular challenges that affect their performance and operation. Project and management skills enable organizations to plan, execute and control activities hence minimizing the challenges (Ani et al., 2018). The use of project management skills will enable the stakeholders such as Jeff, Chad, and Cindy to coordinate their project from the beginning to the end. Since they are planning to open the second Brundys hotel, project management skills will enable them to cooperate toward the completion of the project within two years. Burnham family is planning to open more Brundys hotels in the United States and with the help of this skill, they will be motivated towards completion of the projects (Argyris, 2017). Effective management skills will enable the managers to control activities in the Hotel. The supervisors will acquire management skills and hence reduce reluctance when supervising employees.

The skill of project and operation management enables managers in organizations to plan and execute work with adhered deadlines. This will reduce poor supervision since the project managers will keep track of the progress of activities hence enabling employees to work effectively. The presence of operation management enables the process of planning, executing, and controlling to be efficient (Wilkinson et al., 2020). Operation management skills will enable the managers in Brundys hotel to reduce the attendance problem drastically since they will keep track of the progress thus enabling the supervisor to know the employees who fail to report to work. This will enable the performance and productivity of the Hotel to improve (Perols et al., 2017). The skill of project and operation management will enable Brundys hotel to achieve its goals such as improving exemplary service for the guests and employees thus improving efficiency and effective productivity.

Communication and meetings skills

In an organization, it is essential to enhance effective communication skills such as understanding, listening, and giving feedback. Holding meetings and conventions in organizations is an important aspect since enables the employees to discuss their thoughts and concerns (Lewis et al., 2017). The skill of communication and meeting enable employees to raise their concerns and hence identify areas that need improvement in the organization. Various theories such as transactional, interactive, and linear are suitable for enhancing effective communication in an organization (Ghasemaghaei et al., 2018). A linear model is a process used in meetings and conventions where a message pass from one individual to another. The interactive model involves the passage of a message from the sender to the receiver.

Application of communication skills and meetings

The presence of communication skills in the Brundys hotel has enabled communication to be effective within the organization. That is, the supervisors can communicate with the employees while supervising work (Abu-Shreah & Al-Sharif, 2017). This will enable the supervisors to commit to performing their tasks hence minimizing reluctance. The chief executive officer can communicate with the vice president of community relations and director of human resources effectively without hesitance. Effective communication skills will improve understanding among employees thus creating a positive atmosphere that suits the development of the organization (Saputro et al., 2020). The skill of effective communication enables Jeff, Chad, and Cindy to communicate with their children to prepare them for future management of the Burnham family.

Holding meetings and conventions is a suitable skill used in various organizations such as hotels to control challenges. For example, the director of human resources at Brundys hotel, Cindy there was a time she called Jeff`s administrative assistant requesting a meeting (Omiya & Kadobayashi, 2019). Although Jeff was not available at that time, he later received the call that week. They requested to hold a meeting. The meeting involved the plans for extending the organization. The meeting was to discuss the project of opening more Brundys hotels in the United States and preparing their children for future management (Meredith et al., 2017). In an organization, meetings are essential since they reduce challenges such as absenteeism and ensure employees are accountable for performance.

Recommendations

Brundys hotel needs to establish suitable strategies to minimize the occurrence of challenges and issues. For example, the Hotel needs to employ other employees from different families rather than acquiring them from the Burnham family. The Hotel needs to establish suitable management strategies to ensure the managers’ control and plan for the projects effectively. The establishment of an employee handbook will be essential to ensure the information relating to employees is well preserved and hence manage them effectively. Supervisors need to be skilled to reduce reluctance when supervising employees. To increase the performance of the Hotel, the management will need to equip their employees with suitable skills and training after referral. This will equip the employees with suitable skills to offer appropriate service to the guests.
