As a consultancy group, we embarked on identifying some of the problems faced by Pantai Hospital Group regarding eHealth. A major challenge was adopting eHealth services to the patients; as a group, we embarked on getting solutions and various recommendations to help improve health services within the hospital. Capturing clinical records is a major tactic for safeguarding healthcare and enabling specialists to access clinical records for easy decision-making. Our group had ideas to implement, like the use of HER, which delivers a longitudinal record of data on a person’s health status that only specialists and authorized figures can access in real time—expanding the capacity to use the clinical data to watch over the patients to conduct audits and even research, providing patients needed data in a time. We also saw that it may provide more time for the patients and the health care providers.
Some of the challenges we identified that limited the use of eHealth were the costs of implementation, which was very expensive, and the hospital faced budget constraints to maintain the technology (Scheibner et al., 2021). Some healthcare providers struggled to transition to electronic systems due to inadequate training and workflow disruption. Some patients also had difficulty ensuring their data was safe and confidential; therefore, they needed reassurance. Another challenge we encountered was our limited familiarity with digital tools and technology; therefore, we witnessed less impact from the eHealth systems. Patients also needed help adjusting to the eHealth technology; digital illiterate patients were many in the population, so this is a factor that impedes its adoption in Pantai Hospital Group.
We came up with a list of solutions that may be used to overlook the challenges. An investment was needed to train and offer training programs to healthcare providers to ensure they are proficient in using eHealth systems(Scheibner et al., 2021). We realized it would uplift the use of the technology and its effectiveness. Offering digital literacy programs for the patients would help them avoid problems using the technology. Training sessions like workshops and giving out educational materials will help people learn more about the technology. Creating awareness campaigns also helps patients know the benefits of the technology, active engagements, and giving user-friendly interfaces fosters patients to participate in their health care management. Preparing pilot programs, testing the technology, and identifying areas of concern and improvements would help address future challenges by collecting patient and staff feedback. Creating an innovation culture, ideas being shared in the hospital for future trends, and adaptation to technological improvement within the hospital.
We had some recommendations that we wanted to help the Pantai Hospital Group commit to the solutions we gave out since they are ideal for future implementation. We came up with an ROI analysis, which would help us to showcase the hospital’s potential financial benefits; it would help the hospital in cost saving, the patient outcome would improve, and efficient gains would improve (Sellamuthu et al., 2023). We also decided to form a collaborative plan with the hospital to ensure proper planning to ensure their concerns are actively considered and to show commitment to the project. We also want to engage the hospital’s key stakeholders, the health care providers, and the staff, which is crucial for smooth transitioning to alleviate resistance. We also devised a way of customizing solutions to specific patients tailored for their benefits to boost acceptance within the instruction and show commitment to the organization. We also saw it fit to maintain communication with the hospital to support the staff and patients and boost trust and commitment.
