Liu (2021), on the other hand, reported that high school football players were as likely to sustain injuries on artificial turf or natural grass. Since the surface is harsher and less forgiving than natural grass, more abrasions, friction burns, and joint injuries may occur on artificial turf. Gosnell et al. (2022) discovered that excessive injuries such as lacerations and bruising have been more common for football players on artificial turf than natural grass, suggesting this is the case. Similarly, Calloway et al. (2019) observed that artificial turf multiplied the occurrence of ankle injuries among girl soccer gamers compared to natural grass. Proponents of artificial turf, however, claim that it is more durable than natural grass because it can survive extensive use and extreme weather conditions and offer a stable playing surface. In addition, according to a few research, there is no difference in injury quotes between natural grass and artificial turf. In college football, as an example, Gosnell et al. (2022) found no statistically vast distinction in harm rates between natural grass and artificial turf. Calloway et al. In conclusion, there is conflicting evidence on whether athletes are safer on natural grass or artificial turf. While making judgments concerning the safety of playing surfaces for athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, and administrators should consider a number of aspects, including the kind and quality of the playing surface and the characteristics of the particular athlete.
