Democracy and Equal Rights

Democracy has existed since the time 508 BC. World War 1 played a great role in establishing democracy in America. The power of people, by the people, and for the people brought equality as human beings were able to get grievances and speak their minds and what they felt was right for them. Equality is one of the proposed amendments in the American constitution to give equal legal rights to all citizens living in America. At the end of the first world war, there was an impermanent victory and achievement for democracy in America. It was extended to Germany and stored permanently in France. In 1906 democratic rights were implemented in Finland, and there was proportional representation in all systems(McGuire, 2020). At fourteen points, President Woodrow Wilson said that the United States should enter the war to ensure that the world is safe for democracy. He introduced the fourteen points to create a strong foundation for democracy. There were few inaugurated months in Russia until the rule of Lenin. Many democratic and equal rights were derived from these incidents experienced in the ancient world, especially during the world wars.

Human rights are violated even today by the government and law enforcement agencies. For instance, the incident with George Floyd was a violation of human rights. Killing someone for no good reason is against the law and human rights—the same case as witnesses when the Japanese internment camps were isolated in 1942. The United States government issued the policy of separating the base that the people living in Japan were of descent. The United States citizens were incarcerated in the camps. As the case of George Floyd was considered a violation of human rights, the issue of Pearl Harbor was also considered an appalling violation of civil rights. The killing of people as human beings is against the law and the rights of human beings. Many people demonstrated the death of George Flood and other black people, which revealed democracy in the present day. People have known the main aim of democracy, and they are currently impressing and fighting for it. The decision made by the government does not mean that the citizens have supported it (McGuire, 2020). In the current world, the government considers human beings’ voices and the rights that have been fought for since the olden days. Democracy has given citizens the strength to talk their minds, and where they are violated, they can raise the matter to the government. They have the right to democracy and free will, which permits them to hire their grievances to the government.

Second World War caused tension all over the world. Inflation and prices of goods and services increased all over the world. The cost of living became high, and almost the prices of every commodity increased, especially gasoline and the products made from gasoline. Since the second world war, the crisis of inflation has existed and is the most global crisis experienced in America and the world at large (McGuire, 2020). Essential utilities are among the rights of human beings and the world experienced. From this war, it was eminent that democracy should be applied, and small countries should not be intimidated by developed countries. They should receive equal rights and be treated with required lawful regulation and set policies. This was why Franklin D. Roosevelt introduced the new deal program to curb unemployment and recover back economy to an average level. The Dust Bowl contributed to the great depression in America. The great depression drove many families to suffer, and many migrated in search of better living conditions and work. Some of the citizens in the United States are experiencing a high cost of living currently, especially people of the lower class. The states should receive an equal share from the government to ensure equal development in all American states.

Equality is evolving and advancing. Women during the world war were left in the house guarding the family. To some extent, they were not allowed to vote, and they were seen as people of the second class in society. Women were supposed to be submissive to men and should take care of the family. During the second world war, a hero among women arose and conducted a campaign to recruit female workers to the military. Her name was Rosie the Riveter, and she became the most iconic image of women. Women in America entered the workforce in uncountable numbers during the war. The women’s force increased between 1940 and 1945 in the United States. The participation of women in the military increased between the 1970s to 1980s. Since democracy was considered a powerful tool in America, their cry was listened to, and many women were recruited into the workforce. Currently, women have surpassed men in employment attainment, and most women are learned. For instance, for the first time in the history of America, a woman has become a vice president. The motive of Gender quality is to give women opportunities to try new fields and working environments. The 19th amendment allowed women to vote and guaranteed women the right to vote as men did (McGuire, 2020). Women today are also fighting for the same in the current world. They want to be involved in government activities and other essential operations to develop the country. Every country in the world is impressing and refraining from the words gender quality. Equality has improved in America, and women earned 62 percent the same as men. Women should be treated the same as men, and since it is a democratic world, women have stood on their toes to ensure the gender rule is adhered to. Jane Addams, who died in1935, showed that women could work and do great things because she worked to support peace, settlement work and she used writing (McGuire, 2020). The same case was done by New Jersey Women’s Suffrage Association in their flyer where they said they should vote for the women’s Suffrage Amendment.

There are many activists in the world fighting for human rights. The poem by Langston Hughes gave Americans new looks at America starting again and being new again. The poem said that America should focus on achieving what it dreamt of and be the firm land of love. The poem said that America should be a country of liberty, and equality should be empressed in the country. Amanda Gorman empressed the same during the inauguration of the president of America. Philip Randolph, who died in 1979, was a civil rights leader for rights and equality for African Americans. He tried to organize black workers when the united states entered World War One. They wrote a magazine that called for more working positions for black people in the armed forces and war industry (McGuire, 2020). America is against discrimination and racism today. People like Randolph fought for black people and curbed the growth of discrimination and racism. The American people are currently against discrimination and racism. Either a black or white person should be treated equally because they are all American citizens.

Many ideas about democracy and equal rights enacted today were borrowed from the olden days. Some of the incidences that happened before are happening nowadays. Democracy and equality have evolved from time immemorial. They have been considered to be powerful tools for improving peace between countries.
