Cultural Competence and Its Implications in Nursing

The importance of nursing in determining a person’s quality of life cannot be overstated. This is because medical care quality depends entirely on the nurses’ services. The quality services that nurses provide are the cause of the significant inequalities that have occurred in the health industry. However, the cultural competency of the nurses, which affects the standard of nursing care provided by medical practitioners, is one reason for the gap. Every nurse should be culturally competent in order to guarantee that patients receive the best care and appropriate medication. Because it encourages the use of patient-centered care and provides maximum assistance to its patients by treating their medical difficulties individually, cultural diversity in any healthcare facility is vital because all patients are treated equally and without bias.

Examples of EOP SLO ( END OF PROGRAM STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES )

There are many EOPSLOs (End of Program Student Learning Outcomes) that are relevant to the nursing field, including the capacity for critical thought, the ability to communicate effectively, the capacity for caring and empathy, the capacity for leadership, the capacity for excess autonomy, and the capacity for clinical competence.

Use of EOP SLP( END OF PROGRAM STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES ) in Advocation For The Right To Informed Decision Making and Self Determination Of The Patient

The Patient’s ability to make an informed selection is crucial because it will eventually determine the caliber of the services they will need. Such patient decisions are crucial because they lower anxiety and boost satisfaction and confidence (Bartlett et al.,2020). Also, the Patient’s self-determination is crucial since it empowers them to make the best choices for their health even when they may not seem acceptable to others.

The use of patient-centered care, where the nurse or medical professional respects the Patient’s decisions regarding their health, enables advocacy for the Patient to make informed decisions and practice self-determination (Eklund et al.,2019). Moreover, healthcare personnel respects the patient’s freedom to make personal decisions regarding their treatments, providing care in accordance with their preferences and acknowledging them.

Another EOP SLP program that can address issues relating to people’s health-related decisions is the Evidence-based practice method, in which the Patient participates in processes that involve reviewing, translating, and analyzing scientific evidence to select the best clinical approach to their medical problems. This strategy’s primary goal is to ensure that the medical center employs the best technique for investigating efficient forms of therapy and that patients are informed of these findings so they may make appropriate decisions for their needs.

Managing Personal, physiological, Psychological, Cultural, and Financial Factors That Imapact Effective Communication

Good communication is crucial in the healthcare industry since it aids in selecting the Patient’s optimal treatment plan and medications. Trauma, stress, and sadness are physiological conditions that might impact communication ( Jo et al.,2019). On the other hand, physiological factors that influence health may include poor health, eye and hearing issues, and poor health. Age, race, gender, and other variables can impact how people communicate in the health industry. Also, the cost of a communication technique and any associated costs for adopting it can impact communication inside a company.

Because informatics employs technology to translate data into information that nurses and patients can use in hospitals daily, it can significantly improve financial, personal, psychological, and physical factors affecting communication in health care. Also, since informatics can analyze patient information on employment status and income level, it may substantially impact healthcare communication. This information is crucial since it aids medical professionals in choosing the most effective course of treatment for their patients.

Personal Reflection

Because of how critical it is to the health sector, the examination of culture in the health field should be done frequently. For instance, a company’s culture is crucial in ensuring that nurses employ the optimal treatment plan for the patients. Also, patients are treated in accordance with their preferences, and their particular needs are met thanks to the adoption of culture in the health sector. Cultural research and practices are crucial to the healthcare sector because they promote better health outcomes and lessen Patient concerns related to health disparities. Given the significance of culture in the healthcare industry, I believe that all healthcare professionals should embrace this idea.
