Challenges and Solutions to Management Problems

Leadership is viewed as the possession of power by an individual to ensure the achievement of an organization’s mandate. However, Prentice’s elaboration of Leadership makes more sense_ Leadership is the ability to engage human aid by understanding their personal goals and capitalizing on that to yield team mandate. He described this form of Leadership as democratic. A successful leader has to find a niche in each employee and use it to motivate them to achieve higher goals (Prentice, 2004). Management tribulations are part of the job and range from poor communication and low productivity to workplace conflicts. This paper describes challenges and solutions to management problems.

As per the case study, the teams seem to be facing challenges in collaboration which is a crucial component of teamwork. Collaboration is compromised when teams fail to internalize their specific tasks in the business value chain. Professor Richard Hackman offers a solution for a credible team through five conditions: recognition of a real team, a team with a clear mission for its work, an elaborate structure that facilitates teamwork, and the leader has to be expert teamwork coaching for the subcontractors. Once the team understands the layout, the conflict rates will be minimized, and productivity will increase (Stark, 2002). A great leader puts into perspective the needs of his team and uses their goals to achieve organizational goals. According to figure 12.4, a great leader motivates the team through recognition such as promotions, badges, or certificates. Plans before the mission; for instance, as per the case study, the team leader has clearly outlined structures and duties for each team player and seeks information before concluding the case study; the team leader gathered the correct information to understand the conflict between subcontractors. Demonstrates concern for subordinates- for a trusting relationship to work, a team leader has to constantly listen to the team and consider their needs for productivity. The team needs to quickly rise from the conflicts and begin putting in the work. The team leader needs to investigate through one-on-one interviews, make a decision, take action and make a follow-up on recommendations issued for efficiency in teamwork (Rao, 2016).

Based on the Management journal, for a team to achieve high performance, it is necessary to continuously motivate the team, remind them of the goal, and study their strengths and weaknesses to identify the right team and create a team culture (BATEMAN et al., 2015). Stephen Covey backs this in his book, in which he states that consistency in habits is what brings out character. As in this case, team members must show consistency in their best traits to achieve more outstanding results (Covey, 2022). Organizations have a role to play in identifying leaders, especially during interviews. Organizations have to consider a leader who possesses people skills. This means they can handle different people with different perceptions based on the matter. Leaders should also be discreet in their dealings. This means that the leader is invested in the growth of the staff, and there is no definite to do the job as long as it meets the organizational goals (“Characteristics of Superior Leaders,” 2022).

Conclusion

In a nutshell, while Leadership seems like a straightforward job, it happens to be the most tedious job based on the target group, humans. However, a great leader is known for associating with his group and achieving the mission set but not by the power they exude.
