To control one’s health and have remote access to medical services, telehealth applies digital information and communication technology. In technology, gadgets like desktop computers and mobile phones/tablets fall under a broad category. Some telehealth technologies include live video conferencing, mobile health applications, save and forward electronic transmission, and remote patient monitoring (Monaghesh & Hajizadeh, 2020). Telehealth technology is the best technology to help patients in the comfort of their homes. In recent years, the United States healthcare system has integrated telehealth into care delivery, and most of these facilities continue to record positive health outcomes.

With many diseases, the sooner a patient gets treatment, the higher their chances of full recovery. To put it another way, when patients put off seeking care, whether it be because they do not want to deal with making an appointment or because they cannot immediately get on the provider’s schedule, their conditions frequently get worse, making it even harder for the doctor to get them back to health (Monaghesh & Hajizadeh, 2020). However, there are fewer obstacles to timely care delivery when patients seek treatment through telehealth, so they may begin the road to recovery before their diseases worsen. The results are happier patients who are healthier as a result. Through video conferencing, live chats, and phone calls, patients can share all PHI without fear; hence doctors can develop a patient-centered care coordination plan, which is proven to result in better patient outcomes, increased patient satisfaction, and can be an indicator of quality care (Monaghesh & Hajizadeh, 2020).

In addition to reducing strain on the healthcare system, telehealth benefits patients and their loved ones by making high-quality medical attention more affordable. There is a growing trend in the field of telehealth toward voice-activated home devices that may be used for remote monitoring and distance-based consultations at the point in time when they are most helpful to the patient. Patients may now feel comfortable discussing their medical history with their physicians, which can aid in diagnosis and developing a care coordination strategy based on the individual receiving treatment (Ford et al.,2020). Thanks to advancements in telehealth nursing, patients may get professional care without ever having to leave the house (Ford et al.,2020). Patients with mobility issues may be treated without going to healthcare facilities, and doctors can follow their progress remotely. There is a financial benefit to remote monitoring and self-management for patients since it reduces the need for costly hospital visits. More specifically, patients are assured of their safety and access to high-value treatment at a lower cost when they can self-manage and get remote monitoring for various conditions rather than being hospitalized (Ford et al.,2020). Nurses, for instance, may check in on their patient’s vitals and overall development using telehealth tools like videoconferencing without the patients ever having to leave the comfort of their homes or miss a prescribed dosage and supply the medication.

Nursing care delivered through telehealth improves communication between healthcare providers, patients, and their loved ones, which is essential for developing an effective care coordination strategy. Patient happiness and adherence to the care coordination plan are enhanced by good communication between the patient and their physicians and caregivers (Ford et al.,2020). Care is more efficiently delivered, and patients have better results when patients are optimistic about their treatment plans and adhere to their medication schedules.

To improve the quality of care, all medical professionals in healthcare facilities, particularly nurse informatics, need to collaborate and incorporate telehealth technology in their care delivery. Nurse informatics must train all caregivers on the importance, need, and benefits of using telehealth, which can enhance patient safety, and satisfaction levels and reduce the cost of care. A significant obstacle to implementing telehealth is resistance from staff because of fear of job loss and because for the patient to benefit, he/she needs a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, which the aged can find challenging to use.

Reasons why I chose Telehealth Technology

I was concerned about hospitalization rates which continue to rise, especially for those with hypertension. This is one reason I settled on Telehealth nursing technology which can help these patients effectively manage the condition and is less costly. Self-management of such conditions and remote patient monitoring by caregivers can be made possible by Telehealth technology, which may alleviate the financial and administrative strain placed on hospitals by the shortage of available beds for inpatients (Ford et al.,2020). Costly hospital stays and repeated doctor’s visits might be avoided, and those with mobility issues could also benefit from this technology. Telehealth is the answer to the problem of hospitals’ lack of space and beds, as people can be monitored from home.

Health facilities continue to struggle with the adverse impact of COVID-19 on care delivery. I became interested in telehealth because of its vital role in delivering proper care coordination, especially remotely in the health sector and healthcare facilities, at lower rates, which benefits people from all socioeconomic backgrounds (Ford et al.,2020). I understand that in States where social distancing and other preventative measures are still in place, Telehealth technology can deliver quality care in the comfort of a patient’s home. When I realized that individuals might obtain medical help without going to a clinic or hospital, I developed a plan to inform the public and persuade those in administrative roles inside healthcare institutions to use telehealth strategies. This assures more people in the United States access to timely, high-quality medical treatment.

Methods Used in the Study

Specifically, I used PubMed, which assisted me and gave me access to a broad range of peer-reviewed articles, many of which I could filter to obtain just the most recent report, especially during the previous five years. I read up on telehealth, its advantages and disadvantages, and how it may be used. Materials providing telehealth literature from a comprehensive and in-depth viewpoint were prioritized since my audience consists of health professionals, patients, and other interested individuals. Because of their credibility and authority, I felt comfortable using PubMed articles in my study.
