Literature Review on the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Different Industries and Job Markets

Artificial intelligence has revolutionized all sectors of the economy by making work easier. Briganti and Moine (2020) highlighted how artificial intelligence has revolutionized medicine, especially clinical practices such as epilepsy seizures. The authors compare the current and future uses of artificial intelligence since its continuously evolving. According to Briganti and Moine (2020), artificial intelligence in medicine has benefits, risks, and future opportunities for advancement. Artificial intelligence in medicine is applied in various areas, including cardiology, pulmonary medicine, endocrinology, and nephrology. Therefore, it has made work more accessible by predicting multiple risks posed by patients and recommending treatment. However, Briganti and Moine (2020) claim that artificial intelligence use in medicine has encountered various challenges as it leads to a replication crisis. Only a few studies have been conducted to justify its use. The authors suggest that more studies should be conducted to gauge the reliability of artificial intelligence in medicine.

Nonetheless, the authors offer a tactical solution that would eradicate the challenges posed by artificial intelligence. The augmented doctors should be educated on how to embrace medical engineering. They suggest that a curriculum should be changed to help eradicate medical problems. Similarly, the onset of Ambient Clinical Intelligence (ACI) has eliminated the tiresome recording of health records by digitizing the process. Finally, Briganti and Moine (2020) claimed that the purpose of artificial intelligence is not to replace doctors but to make their work easier. Similar observations were made by Chen et al. (2020), emphasizing that AI does not replace teachers but makes their work easier. The target audience of artificial intelligence in medicine is the medical practitioners who fear the changes to inform them of the need to be flexible in the changing world. Briganti and Moine (2020) align with my topic as it offers a medicinal artificial intelligence approach. Therefore, it provides valuable information regarding artificial intelligence in the medical industry. Hence, it helps medical practitioners be prepared for future changes through artificial intelligence.

Moreover, artificial intelligence can be applied in education. Cheng et al. (2020) stated that artificial intelligence in education is applied in administration, instruction, and learning. The authors’ work target teachers, learners, policymakers, and computer scientists who develop the system. However, a notable difference between Briganti and Moine (2020) and Cheng et al. (2020) is that education involves a combination of artificial intelligence and machine learning, such as robotics. Nonetheless, the main similarity between the scholars is that artificial intelligence is used to assist doctors and teachers in conducting their daily operations. Cheng et al. (2020) claimed that artificial intelligence evolved from ‘’computer technologies to the web-based and online intelligent education system and finally to use of human robots and chat-bots for instructors.’’ Unlike artificial intelligence use in technology, the educational sector combines intelligent educational technologies such as educational data mining and learning analytics. The combination of intelligent technologies has revolutionized the education sector, thus ensuring the work of instructors and learners is easier.

Furthermore, Cheng et al. (2020) discussed artificial intelligence’s various roles in education. The roles include automation of administrative processes, curriculum, and content development, student learning process, reviewing, grading, and providing feedback to learners. The works of Cheng et al. (2020) have shed more light on using artificial intelligence in different sectors. Therefore, it has provided information essential to my topic, which seeks to explore the impact of artificial intelligence in various industries. However, Cheng et al. (2020) primarily emphasized the importance and role of artificial intelligence without discussing the challenges of embracing artificial intelligence. Therefore, it’s different from Briganti and Moine (2020), who discussed both the merits and demerits of adopting artificial intelligence in the field. However, both articles are organized similarly and emphasize the importance of AI in different sectors. Therefore, the article provides information on the use of artificial intelligence and its benefits in the educational sector, which benefits my research and other stakeholders.

The evolution of artificial intelligence is crucial to understanding its impacts in various industries. According to Zhang and Lu (2021), artificial intelligence combines drivers, technology, applications, and other logical opinions. Therefore, it presents artificial intelligence as an art that has revolutionized many sectors, including government and academia. In governments, AI has been crucial in ‘’ enhancing national competitiveness and maintaining security’’ (Zhang & Lu, 2021). In its earlier stages, artificial intelligence began with solving minor problems before advancing to complex problems to improve the world. The authors claim that the viewpoints of symbolism, connectionism, and behaviorism should be considered when conducting AI-related research. Furthermore, Zhang and Lu (2021) highlighted the origin and development of AI, with the Expert system being the oldest form of artificial intelligence. They claim that an expert system, a form of AI, is multifaceted and used in various sectors, including medicine and surveying. Therefore, the research aligned with Briganti and Moine (2020), who claimed that artificial intelligence is used in medicine to boost clinical service delivery.

Zhang and Lu (2021) research targets artificial intelligence researchers as it can be applied as a background for future studies. The researchers may include learners, academicians, and research institutes. Besides, it provides the present and future issues in artificial intelligence, such as Blockchain technology and the Internet of Things. Therefore, the source has valuable information that can be applied to my topic. It provides both historical and future perspectives of artificial intelligence, which aids in decision-making among multiple industries. The article aligns with Briganti and Moine (2020) and Chen et al. (2020) by discussing the importance of artificial intelligence in various industries, including medicine and education. Therefore, they provide similar information and can be applied to boost the credibility of my research. Furthermore, the papers are organized similarly in prose, making it easy for the reader.

I found the article ‘’ Artificial Intelligence in Education: A Review’’ by Cheng et al. (2020) to be the most effective. It has a wide range of information from all education departments, from administration to learners, by streamlining the learning process. Besides, it encompasses various artificial intelligence technologies such as machine learning, learning analytics, and data mining. Therefore, it informs the stakeholders on other technologies that can be implemented in education to streamline the process. It also articulates the AI technology in diagrams, making it easy for individuals to understand. Besides, it analyzes the role of artificial intelligence in promoting the education sector clearly and logically. Hence, it’s the most successful article as it exhausts all information regarding the education sector and would be crucial to my topic.

Finally, my plan for conducting my research drastically changed after the research proposal. Although there is a gap, most research has been conducted recently on artificial intelligence in various industries. Therefore, there is a need to use the gaps identified by other researchers in the same field to avoid duplicating the available literature. The available works of literature are crucial as they have guided and changed my perspective on the topic and made it more attractive due to the availability of other research to support my topic. Hence, it has expanded my knowledge on the topic, making it easier to conduct my research since I will utilize the works from other scholars as my background study.
