Philosophy becomes the thoughtful guide that commands us to our town’s art, collections, or exhibitions, usually in the art gallery. When we arrive, it becomes an illuminating beacon that gives support and shows us the more vivid path where our thoughts, actions and perceptions intersect. It goes deep into the fundamental matters in life, such as knowing the self, material reality, the rightness of morals, and the question of subjective involvement in the Universe. Through this essay, I start to make a journey that concerns the questions about my philosophy and understanding its links with principles of trust, perception, and authenticity. At its core lies a fundamental belief: genuine relationships and understandings are built upon the ‘sister’ pillars of believing others just to be who they are and have absolute assurance in one’s senses. In this philosophy, based on the acceptance of the authenticity of oneself that is inherent to everyone, the trusting itself, the acknowledgement of what an individual is, is of great importance (Williamson,2021). It is against this background that genuine relationships become healthy, and the complexities of interpersonal relationships become more accessible. In our intellectual endeavours, we will piece together the mystery of being of trust, perceive what a genuine human relationship is based on, and work towards a clearer vision.
My Philosophy:
The hypothesis lies at the heart of my philosophy: “It is perfect to always trust others to be themselves, yet trust in the fact that you can spot authenticity in people.” This line means that we should not take anyone’s word for granted but rather be able to tell when someone is being themselves. Distinguishing authenticity from lies is essential for interacting with others and navigating life. People should be encouraged to be actual people without pressure or inhibitions because they can live the way they want and have their own internal beliefs and values (Williamson, 2021). It leads to a world of warmth and openness, where individuality becomes an advantage and tolerance substitutes for condemnation.
On the other hand, the second part of the proclamation points out the significance of self-trust and external factors, such as perception. Besides recognizing the authenticity of others, it is significant to retain the expertise in disentangling the truth from deception and manipulation in interpersonal communications. This sense of certainty gives me a feeling that I am the only one who has found the proper way in the labyrinth of human relationships. It allows individuals to set new boundaries, gain knowledge, and so on, serendipitously build ties, and end up with relationships that have understanding and respect. Giving a wide berth to your perception makes it possible for you to be yourself among others, improving your relationships and making you a better social person (Williamson,2021). Thus, by setting our moral compass and the values we see in the world, we bring a feeling of agency and clarity, which is crucial in achieving in-depth connections and genuine relationships.
Detailed Explanation of Two Philosophers with Whom I Agree:
Parmenides:
According to Parmenides, one of the most renowned ancient Greek philosophers who has unquestionably left an inimitable imprint on the history of reality and existence through their all-encompassing views, he puts forward a thought which contradicts the well-established notions of change and diversity. According to Parmenides, the unity and permanence of being are the fundamental nature of reality. This state was beyond the shifting forms, endless, indivisible and immovable. This idea is crucial in nourishing my philosophy, which deems individuals’ authentic selves deeply. The truth of human nature is that we are different but one in what is inside.
Similarly to Parmenides, who asks us to look with exacting eyes through the eyes of the soul beyond the external appearance of change and the externals that are forever to encounter the unchanging sources of nature, I also feel that we need to have the power of discernment to perceive the enduring essence of reality which unites all of us together (Ajvazi, 2021). When one becomes conscious of such a view, it increases awareness of the interconnectivity of life in general. It brings along the feeling of more profound empathy and compassion in everything they do.
Notwithstanding, being in line with the principle of non-contradiction of Parmenides is also one of the aspects of my deeply rooted belief in the importance of self-trust and discernment. He illustrates his point by inferring that the law of contradiction will oblige us to be clear-cut and ingenious in the perceptions and creeds we are led by. Empedocles:
Empedocles, another luminary among ancient Greek philosophers, provides invaluable insights into the nature of existence through his renowned theory of the four elements: the world of nature, air, fire, and water. Empedocles argued that four base elements intermix and mingle through the opposing forces of love and strife. As a result, the beauty and richness of nature either flourish or perish while out of balance. This viewpoint articulates my conviction in the genuine diversity and individuality of every individual with great precision, drawing attention to the universal power of unity that unites them. Like Empedocles’ idea of a constant restructuring by the contrasting forces of the cosmic world, an individual interaction is a sort of choreography with different energies and views at play (Zatta, 2020). We are all part of the same web of connections, which is of primary significance. The embracing of this conception majorly promotes a much more profound respect for the totality of all things that make up our world and can be viewed as a significant factor in achieving harmony, empathy and peace among individuals.
Also, note that Empedocles’s discourse of love as the unifier of all things strikes a chord in what I have been emphasizing in interpersonal relationships as that of trust and compassion. Seeing diversity as a natural layer over the fundamental unity is one of the significant things Empedocles asks us to keep in mind so we can see others as rights where generosity and understanding should matter. It demonstrates that we have been settling for less, which can lead to the loss of opportunities. Applying Empedocles’ viewpoint helps us realize that we are not defined only by what is printed on paper but by our true ethical qualities as humans (Zatta,2020). Hence, we, as homo sapiens, hold dear the diversity of humanity and craft peace through tolerance and empathy, and these are the foundations of long-lasting and well-functioning communities.
In essence, both Parmenides and Empedocles provide key revelations on how reality works under the higher order and the human experience of being alive. This agreement with their wisdom motivates me. They support my philosophy of trust, authenticity, and integrity, open the way for seeing the world as one living entity, and explore human interactions by finding solutions starting from such basic things as the need for trust and honesty.
Conclusions:
Finally, philosophical concepts play a role in how we view the world and procedural knowledge about the intricate nature of human behaviour. The trust of others for never betraying their instincts and faith in themselves for self-certainty is my personal belief underpinning the understanding of ideas articulated by philosophers like Immanuel Kant and Jean-Paul Sartre. One of the main directions of the philosophy of individualism is to promote the principles of autonomy, rationality, and realism. At this moment, we can be self-reliant on our way to self-knowledgement and freedom of decision to achieve the ultimate goal of interpersonal communication and mutual understanding. In the process of playing with life and trying to resolve a multitude of problems, let us know that the very first skill we should constantly be capable of is credibility, both on the side of a person and a personality, for having it as a basis one can give their life more meaning, having compassion and establishing genuine relationships.
