Theoretical Models Used in Evidence-Based Practice

The ultimate goal of making evidence-based practice (EBP) is thus necessary to allow quality healthcare provision. The goal of evidence-based practice (EBP) implementation is, therefore, essential for providing quality healthcare delivery. With nurses’ roles shifting from juvenile, the demand for assessing and applying theoretical models for reviewing evidence is tremendous. Out of these, the Iowa Model of Evidence-Based Practice to Improve the Quality of Services is impressively structured and well-founded through application.

In the process of assuring careful and competent nursing attention, the precondition of evidence-based practice (EBP) is the one that has taken on the role of guiding principle. Nurses, for providing the most valid evidence, are multi-channel. Given this, one should make an effort to obtain information from credible sources (for instance, in the order of peer-reviewed journals, clinical practice guidelines, and systematic reviews). The purpose is to ensure the correct and recent information that might be useful. Furthermore, it is so essential to determine the reliability, objectivity, and applicability of the evidence in a particular direct practice scene and critically analyze them. Besides managing teams, nurses at higher levels are essential champions of EBP as they create a learning environment, make resources accessible, and offer education and guidance on EBP principles to other healthcare teams(Dang et al., 2021). Through the implementation of evidence-based practice, advanced practice nurses exhibit dedication to the attainment of equally optimum health outcomes in their patients through the use of educated decisions, which are blended with data evidence.

A nursing model of evidence-based quality care is the Iowa Model of Evidence-Based Practice to Promote Quality Care for future work in an advanced nursing role(Cullen et al., 2022). This model systematically creates a way to assess, implement, and evaluate evidence-based work and use it as a base for hospitals. It consists of seven steps: This research can be broken down into the following stages: stage finding the problem and a review of the evidence, stage set up, stage feasibility and pilot studies, stage implementation, stage assessment of the outcome, and stage the dissemination of the results. It is this model that has informed my decision to settle on it in my capacity as a clinician because it encompasses efficiency in the manner through which a diverse team of health professionals implements EBP and aligns them to the organizational goals. Going further, the Integrated Results Model of advanced nursing practice is shown by the use of evidence-based guidelines for pressure ulcer prevention in a long-term care facility. Through this model, nurses are guided in systematically approaching the problem, and they can review evidence-based strategies for pressure ulcer prevention, design and operate a customized protocol specific to the facility, evaluate the outcome, and disseminate the findings to better patient care (Buh et al., 2021).

In conclusion, the Iowa Method of Evidence-Based Practice for the Development of Quality Care is an outstanding tool for encouraging nurse practice and providing optimal patient results. By grasping the value of systematic integration of evidence into the day-to-day decision-making process, nurses can help to improve practice standards, affect care quality, and encourage ongoing learning that is in line with the most credible evidence.
