Introduction
Teenage pregnancy is a pressing matter in the world, with approximately 7 million girls below the age of 19 giving birth. This is not to say that these countries lack access to health facilities and opportunities which can help to avoid teenage pregnancy, which depicts these nations the most. In the United States, as the CDC’s 2020 report indicated a fair decrease in the phenomenon, a rate of 16.5 births recorded for every 1000 girls in their teens (15-19 years old) aims to emphasize the continuation of the problem (“Teen Pregnancy in the United States”). Hence, this phenomenon must be heavily understood as it is linked to social, economic, and health factors from a simple point of view. If we endeavour to explore teen pregnancy, it will allow us to find the roots and consequential effects and give an idea of preventive measures. The study attempts to illustrate that connection through an in-depth investigation of already known problems of young parents, their kids, and broader implications for society. This paper strives to disclose the difficulties of teen pregnancies by highlighting the importance of comprehensive interventions in order to sustain a healthy individual and community as a whole.
Causes of Teen Pregnancy
Multiple factors and most of them are interconnected, make the causes of teen pregnancy very complicated. One significant aspect is the prominent absence of sex education in schools and in society in a holistic way. Teens with no access to information which is accurate about contraception, reproductive health, and responsible sexual conduct will seek wrong things about sexual behaviour unconsciously, consequently increasing the chance of being pregnant. On top of socioeconomic status, this also contributes to the problem as teens from disadvantaged families may find it hard to get into health care services and, on top of that, to access contraceptive methods and family planning resources. Starting from learning how to pinpoint the root causes and the consequences to moving on to finding out the prevention and wrong ideas then, it becomes clear that teen pregnancy needs multisided action.
