An Interview With a Healthcare Social Professional

I arranged an interview with Fred, a social work professional working in healthcare. Fred is educated and trained in providing emotional and physical support to those in need. Fred is my mentor, and I have always known him since my high school senior year. Ever since we talked, he has inspired me to chase my dream to be a well-known Social work professional. I chose to interview Fred because he has a lot of experience in the field, with over ten years of experience. Also, I decided to interview Fred since he had a lot of information on effectively pursuing the career path. Fred is a licensed clinical social worker in the field of healthcare. Helping patients and their loved ones find resources and build strong support networks. As well as providing emotional and physical support to those in need, they also help patients navigate the hospital system.

Fred emphasized that social workers may be confronted with ethical difficulties for no easy solutions. When faced with a situation requiring ethical judgment, social workers should evaluate all of the values, principles, and standards outlined in this Code. Both the letter and the spirit of this Code should guide the decisions and activities of social workers. Besides this, other resources for ethical reasoning can be found on the internet. Ethics theory and concepts, social work theory and research, legislative guidelines, organization policies as well as other related codes of ethics should all be based on the Ethical Guidelines.

The ethical decisions that social workers make should also take into account the influence that their clients’ attitudes, traditional views, and religious practices have on those decisions. Their personal and professional principles may conflict, and they should handle them with care. Social workers who are certified and experienced use communication skills to establish a relationship with their clients, understanding when to speak and listen attentively. As crucial as speaking and writing are, listening is as essential. Fred had a lot of advice on becoming successful in the field. I realized that social workers have a code of ethics that comprises values, principles, and standards that can guide them in making ethical decisions.

To interpret the Code, social workers must first evaluate the environment in which they are putting it into practice, as well as the likelihood of conflicts between the aims, principles, and standards of the Code. Ethical obligation permeates every human connection, from the most personal to the most public and professional. For me, becoming a social worker is about serving people, and this interview has made me even more excited about the profession.

After the debate, I decided to work on skill sets that would make me a good social professional, such as critical thinking, making me a better social worker. Critical thinking refers to the capacity to evaluate information received via objective observation and communication. Social workers must acquire data through observation, interviews, and research in order to objectively examine each situation. Critical thinking and a lack of preconceived notions allow social workers to make well-informed judgments, identify the finest resources, and develop the most effective strategies for helping their clients.
