The Big Five Personality Types

My personality type is ENTJ based on the test. This test aims to evaluate the five significant personality dimensions, often called the Big Five personality variables. The test evaluates my personality to get a comprehensive comprehension of personality features. Psychologists have used the big five personality characteristics to assess people’s personalities. According to a video by Sprouts (2019), the five major personality traits are openness, extraversion, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and agreeableness. One facet of the Big Five personality traits encompasses a multitude of distinct and specialized personality variables. Psychologists use the Big Five model to investigate diverse features shown by people. The ENTJ personality will be assessed through the description, my personality, and comparing the two tests used to determine their effectiveness.

Description

An ENTJ “Commander” has Extraversion, Intuition, Thinking, and Judging personality qualities. ENTJs are individuals with a strong inclination toward making firm decisions and deeply appreciate progress and achievement. ENTJs engage in the process of gathering knowledge to formulate and develop their imaginative ideas. However, the ENTJs tend to implement these visions, displaying little hesitation promptly. INTJs tend to think forward and excel in developing intricate frameworks and strategies to attain their objectives. INTJs show a personality of independence, confidence, and competence. Although INTJs may exhibit a quiet demeanor, they possess a profound enthusiasm for their ideas and are motivated by a strong inclination toward acquiring information and attaining success.

Reflection of the Questions Answered during the Test

The 16 Personalities Test administered a series of questions that included several dimensions, which I answered on communication, decision-making, and social relationships. The survey questions were created to evaluate my preferences, such as the inclination towards introversion or extraversion, thinking or feeling. Although the test yields intriguing findings, they might need to be more accurate because personality is a multifaceted construct that exhibits the potential for development and change over the lifespan(TED-Ed, 2020). I think the assessment provides a limited representation of individual personality characteristics at a particular time and may not fully reflect human conduct’s multifaceted and evolving nature.

My Personality

Based on the Big Five Personality Test, the ENTJ personality type implies an individual who has a proclivity for embracing novel experiences, demonstrating a capacity for imagination, and exhibiting creativity, which indicates a high level of Openness. These people have high levels of Conscientiousness and might be characterized as structured, goal-oriented, and dependable. Individuals who exhibit low levels of Neuroticism are more likely to possess emotional stability and resilience. The Big Five qualities provide a comprehensive framework for understanding an individual’s personality, highlighting many aspects of their behavioral patterns. Therefore, using a series of inquiries, the Big Five test assessed my degree of openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. I illustrate the distinction between immediate crisis resolution and the strategic navigation of long-term objectives and associated obstacles. I get pleasure from engaging in social interactions with others. I have proficient linguistic aptitude, and engaging in interpersonal interactions elicits excitement in others. Engaging in decision-making and adhering to a structured timetable or predetermined course of action fosters a perception of predictability and personal agency. However, the test shows that I have weaknesses, like impatience, stubbornness, insensitive, aggression, and intolerance.

Comparison of the Two Tests

There are similarities and differences between the 16Personalities test and the Big Five Personality Test in assessing an individual’s personality. The Big Five and 16-Personality assessments provide valuable insights into individuals’ personalities, facilitating a deeper understanding of oneself and others (CrashCourse, 2019). Nevertheless, the Big Five model is sometimes seen as more adaptable and uninterrupted, enabling a personalized and dynamic portrayal of an individual’s personality. On the other hand, the 16Personalities exam categorizes people into discrete categories. The Big Five personality trait model has robust scientific backing, as shown by a significant body of research that has consistently affirmed its dependability and validity. On the contrary, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) has encountered suspicion from many psychologists about its scientific validity. The 16Personalities assessment comprehensively explains distinct personality types, but the Big Five assessment provides a more encompassing perspective by evaluating individuals across five dimensions.

Effectiveness of the Tests

The two tests are effective tools for introspection and comprehension. The 16 Personalities Test provides a comprehensive and relevant depiction, making it easily accessible and captivating. Due to its empirical basis, the Big Five offers a more extensive but less subjectively meaningful examination. The success of the test is contingent upon the subjective preferences of individuals since some individuals may find certain kinds of approaches to be more enlightening, while others may value the comprehensive nature of the broader spectrum approach.

Therefore, this test shows that my personality type is ENTJ, which has been identified with some characteristics. This test showed my personality that has been classified under the ENTJs. Moreover, this paper compared the 16Personalities and Big Five Personality Tests and their effectiveness. Hence, personality tests provide significant insights as they serve as instruments for introspection rather than conclusive assessments of one’s personality. The process of self-understanding is an ongoing endeavor, and these assessments provide a singular viewpoint in the broader framework of personal growth.
