Organizational training helps transfer knowledge within an organization to help the employees improve their performance and understanding of the job capabilities. It is a form of tactical approach that helps enhance employees’ skills. It is also a form of compliance obligation for any company to their employees. Organizational training will focus on hard skills such as using specific software or soft skills such as promoting communication among other employees. There are so many benefits that come with investing in an organizational training program because it is in the best interest of the company and the employees to have knowledgeable employees. For the employees, it serves as a platform for career development and growth, which means that everyone has a chance to modify their position for growth.
One of the benefits of having a training program is that it increases the efficiency of employees. A well effective program can make the employees better at what they do. It gives the employees confidence seen in their output and their results (Explore Insiders, 2019). Having an efficient workforce reduces the amount of resources a company has to invest in getting things done. Additionally, training individuals who are already employees within a company diversifies their knowledge even more and assures the company that they can be more competent for higher positions because they are investing more in what they already know.
Another benefit is that there is reduced turnover. A training program is a chance for the people to advance their skills which means that they will have better options for promotion. Better opportunities mean happy employees, and happy employees contribute to job satisfaction which eventually leads to job retention. This reduces the chances of an employee leaving a job and reduces employee turnover. Anywhere employees want to go means that they search for better job positions and if they can get a chance for a promotion, there would never be a need to move.
Having a training program means that there will be less supervision of the employees. An employee needs to be supervised when they work. However, when an employee has sufficient training, the amount of supervision required is less as there are fewer mistakes that they will make. Training indulges more knowledge, and more ability gives way to growth in one’s work area. Hence, it reduces the workload of the supervisor.
It also improves morale and job satisfaction. Training sharpens the hard skills especially. Within a society that every day is technologically engulfed, it is essential to keep up with the changes to ensure a well-motivated workforce (Explore Insiders, 2019). The corporate sector must ensure that they make the most of technological advancement because employees lose their morale and motivation if they cannot perform according to their needs and expectations.
Training programs are also frameworks for developing and enhancing strengths. Society every day becomes more competitive and demanding. It is only those people who continually make progress that can keep up. Companies with a lacking workforce always have so much to lose because they do not have the expected progress that society is keeping up with. Hence, developing a framework that can establish the employees’ strengths ensures that one keeps up with progress and is profitable in time.
Some of the key stakeholders in developing an organizational training program include the investors. These are the people who will be funding the program, including the elearning project to be incorporated (Pappas, 2019). They must always be kept in the loop as they are a vital part of the process. If there is in-house training, the investors can act as the accounting department. They are the ones granting any form of resources.
The upper management is part of the stakeholder group. As a team, these are the individuals who will approve of the training program and deduce how much of the resources should be invested in the project. They need to be convinced that the training program will achieve the desired outcomes and that it will bridge some crucial skill gaps. If no convincing of such happens, they won’t be enthusiastic about the training program.
Instructors or facilitators, or the support staff must confirm the training. Although some training courses may be completely autonomous, they may require instructors and facilitators to some level. Especially for the hard skills, a facilitator will come in handy. This is because they have a higher understanding of a skill.
Without a doubt, a training program is implemented on individuals, and therefore the required employees must be in place to ensure that they are trained. Employees on training are some of the stakeholders taking the advantage home. They are the ones who benefit from the training and increase their value as well.
In terms of employee retention and motivation, training programs are essential because they promote the personal growth of each employee. There is nothing significant to any other individual, such as growth satisfaction. Everyone has a set of career dreams that they would want to achieve. If a company pays attention to such needs, it promotes retention because an employee will not find the need to see growth somewhere else. Growth particularly increases knowledge, and knowledge will always boast satisfaction.
Training programs also open doors for promotion. Every individual wants some form of promotion in one way or another, and if they cannot get them at their company, they can always get it somewhere else. The good thing bout training programs is that they will bring employees closer to gaining the required skills to be eligible for a promotion. This, in return, will promote retention as well.
A training program is also a way to boost adherence to quality standards. Being able to match the expected company standards means that one always stays motivated and can be sure to be considered for any salary advancements or promotions. Keeping up with quality standards makes an individual satisfied with the amount of output they are giving. It makes them aware of what they are doing and always provides the best in what they do. This provides comfort at work and ease of manipulating tasks.
In conclusion, a training program serves the interest of the company and individual employees. A company can save a lot of its resources on employing new people where it can have a chance to train the ones within the company. It improves the reputation of the company. Additionally, for the employees, it is the advancement that increases one’s efficiency at work, instills consistency at work, and develops one’s strengths.
