Major Themes in the Film Dark Knight

Lee Smith, assisted by Nolan, edited the Dark Knight film. The Dark Knight develops characters that people come to care about. Perhaps, the film is entirely created with technical quality that attracts more people to watch. The Dark Knight is performed by various actors who illustrate both good and evil. For instance, Batman is good, and the Joker is evil. The editor of the film Dark Knight has defined multiple themes as demonstrated by the actions of different characters in the film.

Perception is the primary theme of the film Dark Knight. The author’s intention in applying perception is to demonstrate the personality of Batman in the trilogy, which is significantly based on fear. Batman’s personality poses fear to the criminals since they believe he is something mythical rather than a human being. Perhaps, they believe that he symbolizes dread or an avenger prowling the rooftops to hunt them at night. Additionally, the author has applied perception to demonstrate other cases of fear in the film. For instance, Bruce Wayne is put in prison, whereas Bane was sentenced to serve several years while he was young (The Dark Knight min 67). Bruce is seen in prison, fearing death. However, his fear saves him from death as well as enabling him to save his city.

Bruce does not only demonstrate fear but also hope during his time in prison. The author has used Bruce in prison to demonstrate how individuals should have hope even during hard times. While held in the pit, Bruce does not give up and tries every means to escape from the prison. The author has used Batman to show how individuals influence others by giving them hope to succeed in life. Therefore, Batman’s hopes for Bruce are seen when the prisoners assist Bruce in escaping the prison by climbing the wall (The Dark Knight min 72). Batman is the symbol of hope to the people of Gothman because he demonstrates to them that their lives can be better. He also indicates that criminals do not have any say, but they can live well without fear, crime, or danger.

Justice and corruption are other primary themes evident in the film Dark Knight. The author has used Batman to demonstrate how corruption is fought in society hence achieving justice. Perhaps, some people are significantly associated with corruption in society, while others work hard to see justice being done. For instance, Batman works hard to see justice being done. He collaborates with cops and elected officials such as Lieutenant Gordon and Harvey Dent, respectively, to diminish corruption, restoring justice in the city of Gothman (The Dark Knight min 133). Batman ensures that he excellently addresses the needs of the citizens of Gothman by fighting several actions of crime threatening to overtake and control the city. Indeed, we can say that the author has used Batman as an agent of justice and good deeds in the film since he is only the city’s hope of redemption. There are many cases of corruption witnessed in the town of Gothman. For instance, different mobs are seen in the city, and it is essential for Batman to work hard to oppose these cases to achieve peace and justice.

In conclusion, there are multiple themes evident in the film Dark Knight. The development of these themes is facilitated by different characters’ performances in the movie. For instance, Batman often acts as a good person by giving hope as well as fighting corruption in the city of Gothman. He tells criminals that they do not have the final say but can live well without fear.
