Developing a Plan to Expand Leadership Toolbox for the Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (APCNP) Role:

Identify Leadership Development Goal: To be able to reflect on current leadership strengths and come up with areas of improvement. Set attainable goals using the concept of being specific, measurable, relevant, achievable, and time-bound.

Engage in continuous Self-Reflection and learning: Read leadership research and case studies relevant to leadership and management, reflect on leadership experience, lessons, and challenges, and become informed on the ongoing development efforts.

Lead in quality improvement of initiatives and projects: Take a leadership role in quality improvement projects and initiatives practices. Apply leadership skills to enhance improvement and patient outcomes by promoting a culture of progressive learning and teamwork.

Foster Collaboration and Team Leadership collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address the complexity of patient care needed. Also, develop leadership skills that facilitate delegating tasks, promoting open communication, and resolving conflicts.

Embrace change management and innovation by staying informed on emerging issues, healthcare trends, and technology best practices. Apply management change to navigate organization transitions effectively and promote positive outcomes.

Practice Wellness and Self-Careprioritizing management techniques that balance work-life in maintaining emotional, physical, and mental well-being. Be able to recognize the importance of personal resilience and self-awareness in being able to sustain effective leadership practices.
