Carlsberg Brewery Company is one of the largest brewing companies in the world, especially in Europe. J.C. Jacobsen founded it in 1847. On the other hand, the company is also located in Copenhagen, Denmark. The company produces hops, yeast, malted barley, gluten, and water beers. Carlsberg Brewery Company is not all about the production of beer but also deals with other activities like research through their created laboratories. In this case, this study paper concerns one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that can improve the company’s operations. It is due to the poor sustainability of the company, making it hard for the management to cater to their functions. Therefore, the paper will consider clean water and sanitation as the major SDGs that the company should improve.
A report Carlsberg Brewery Company released in 2020 showed that climate change had created a water risk for the company management. However, the company has tried using renewable resources to access clean water and improve climate change. Water is essential for this company since it is one of the significant components of beer production. However, it is crucial to understand that the water is also vital to the community despite the fact that it is necessary to the company. The report said that most of the company’s branches are located where water risks are very high, and thus the operations are affected by this issue. Therefore, the company management needs to create strategies that can make access to water create efficiency within the organization and the community.
Another significant thing to understand about accessing the water supply is that the company has been improving its water supply since 2015. They have created recycling technology that ensures less wastage of water, especially in Denmark. Reusing and treating water has been an essential method for the company since they have completed approximately 60 waste plants used to recycle water. Other things were to partner with Desolenator in India to make clean water for the people of India. The merged company helps in creating water and better climate conditions. Thus, a brewing organization must ensure that since both climate and water are closely connected, they must solve the issue affecting the environment to create clean water for themselves and the community.
For this reason, this research recommends that the company, through their management, use the following steps to ensure that they reduce the wastewater and create sustainability within the environment. First, the company needs to know the amount of water they use in their operations. In this case, they can access where water wastage occurs (Kuhre, 2018). On the other hand, they can educate the importance of water conservational practice to ensure there is less water wastage within the company. In this case, the company can create seminars that provide such successful programs. Therefore, the main idea to ensure that the company gets to sustainability in the SDGs, clean water and sanitation, is to access the water usage and train the employees on water conservation methods.
In conclusion, it is vital to understand that creating sustainable development growth works better for the company’s operations. For this paper, the primary consideration is the Carlsberg Brewery Company. The company was started in 1847 by J.C. Jacobsen. Some of the significant places where they have established their company include Denmark. The company has experienced water wastage for some years. Since 2015, they have created ways to recycle water within the industry and the community. In this case, I have recommended the company add an educational program to the employees to ensure that they create conservational water programs. Also, they should evaluate the operations to ensure that all their processes do not waste water.
