Abolishing Social Promotion Persuasive Essay

Social Promotion is the tendency to allow a learner to proceed to the next grade without understanding the set desired learning outcomes(Chen, 2023). This aspect means that the learner’s self-esteem is destroyed as learners continue losing more information in the buildup activities, thus lacking interest in learning and achieving the desired skills and attitudes. However, there is a need to understand that the learner’s abilities differ in mental, physical, and cognitive capacity. Since education aims to instill certain skills based on a learner’s abilities, there is a need to abolish social Promotion and ensure a learner has a grasp of the learning outcomes sufficient for an effective and affordable life.

Teachers prepare themselves before attending a lesson to ensure the content and amount to be learned by the students is well formulated and organized. Next to this, there are various tools and learning materials that teachers tend to incorporate during the teaching and learning process(Thompson, 2017). Nonetheless, a teacher would experience a challenge if the level of the student’s abilities is different and does not match the intended methodologies(BROPHY, 2023). This means some learners need more attention than others to grasp a given grade content and learning outcomes. Conversely, the teacher must pay close attention to each learner through learner-centered teaching.

Nonetheless, some learners take a long time to grasp and understand certain content despite using and applying several methodologies and learning resources(Thompson, 2017). However, if such learners are given a second chance in a defined area, there is a high possibility of understanding and conceptualizing a specific learning area. This means that the opponents of the social promotion activity are opposed to promoting students without the mastery of certain content due to limitations in time and space to offer extended learning(BROPHY, 2023). However, suppose the teacher is allowed to stay longer with a given student. In that case, chances are that such a kid would understand and appreciate the subsequent lessons and achieve the targeted objectives.

Learning is accumulating knowledge, information, and materials across several learning areas along the grades. Learners are expected to get and add information as they progress the grades to enhance more focused learning outcomes(BROPHY, 2023). This means that failure to understand and digest specific learning objectives would make a learner lose grip in the subsequent learning areas. Social Promotion denies certain learners an opportunity to get and understand the needed content at a given stage of teaching(Chen, 2023). This aspect causes such learners to experience difficulties in the other topics and strands, thus deviating their interest towards a certain subject. With increased devastating experiences, learners need help understanding and appreciating their roles in the schools, and some end up dropping out of school(Chen, 2023). Next to this, when learners fail to get and digest the needed course materials, there is a greater chance that they might lose interest in learning and turn to drug abuse and criminal activities and eventually become a burden to the nation and society at large. As such, there is a need for learners to get enough time to grasp their areas of interest to ensure a smooth learning aftermath.

Conclusion

Social Promotion limits the learners’ opportunity to learn and understand the desired learning outcomes. Nonetheless, education is meant to accumulate certain targeted and desired skills, attitudes and k, and knowledge. Social Promotion infers learners’ Promotion without understanding the outlined lesson objectives. However, although learners differ in their ability to understand and retain information learned in class, teachers must monitor learning to avoid harming the learners more effectively. This would mean that certain learners should be given another chance and take more time to understand the targeted materials during the teaching and learning processes.
