A Report on the Early Beginning of Information Technology

Introduction

The evolution of information technology (IT) has offered a transformational ride, changing the way our people relate to their world. The paper will describe the start of IT, identify the pioneers, and demonstrate the work laying down the foundation for IT. People like cave painters, beekeepers, simple hand weavers, and other kinds of people who did more of the physical labor throughout ancient civilizations, the rudimentary methods of information storage, all the way up to the 19th and 20th-century inventions are undeniable marks of the trajectory of IT in the world.

Origins and Influences

Information technology history (IT) is not a recent short story, but it goes forward in old days. This orientation towards developing writing and the numbering system set up the precedent for information storage and retrieval. The use of ancient Mesopotamian and Egyptian clay tablets and papyrus scrolls to store information and do arithmetic operations in old age reflects how these civilizations lived (Lloyd, 2020). The abacus, invented in ancient China and Mesopotamia, was undoubtedly the earliest human attempt at automating arithmetic and is a foundational purpose in today’s IT. These first inventions represented the initial stages of gradually adding more sophisticated technologies, an example of the early human desire to organize, store, and transmit information optimally (Kumar, 2020).

Iconic works and inventions

The legendary works and inventions in the initial stages of information technology include Samuel Morse’s creation of the telegraph, which today’s youth would prefer if it were relied on for long-distance communication as the Morse code was used then (Tallon et al., 2019). Morse code, letters and symbols representing the alphabet and numbers, was invented. Electrical signals were transmitted for the first time with the help of this system, and the distance was easily crossed (Yip and others, 2019). It is a considerable innovation that changed the way of world communication and set the ground for many others that followed in information technology. Secondly, the capacity of early computers such as ENIAC, which developed in the middle of World War Two, was a great stepping stone in computation and data processing.

Examples and Images of Information Technology

The IT evolution is a beautiful story to unveil, from landmark inventions and devices to numerous innovations that altered human lives and their working processes. However, to cite an example, the invention of the private computer made computing available to individuals and companies. The first computers, like ENIAC, had hulking dimensions in their early days and, therefore, bore a sharp difference from the compact and highly mobile subclass of computers, including laptops and smartphones. (Wager et al., 2021). Besides other IT achievements forming a uniting bond of beings from various corners of the globe and the possibility to transmit data right on the spot, information technologies serve communications purposes. This illustration depicts how information technology (IT) revolutionized and formed today’s world as we know it. The invention of transistors in the 50th decade led to smaller but more powerful computers, which led to the invention of the PC in the 70th and 80th decades (Jordanova, 2019). Hence, microprocessors were introduced, and as a result, computers became smaller, making them available to many people.

Conclusion

The first years of information technology development are full of excellent communications, computational processing, and data storage breakthroughs. From the inception of cuneiform and the abacus to modern times when Steve Jobs and other innovators introduced the world to iPod and personal computers, IT development has been driven by great minds that created this world. Technology is advancing as quickly as light does, which means that as we push our boundaries further and forward, we must also take a step back and ponder upon how it all came about and how it affected the world we live in today.
