A Nurse’s Role in Politics

A nurse’s role in politics relates to this course. Nurses have significant roles in influencing affairs and decisions relating to the health sector through collaboration with other healthcare members and political knowledge (Hajizadeh et al., 2021). Nurses can contact elected officials to communicate on legislation affecting them and assume leadership positions within the healthcare system. Nurses can be formal trainers in politics, get involved in city councils or committees and can run local offices. The topic relates to nursing practice because nurses engage in socio-political activities. For example, nursing organizations take care of the healthcare standards in political issues and practices that relate directly to healthcare officials such as nurses. Political involvement requires to be knowledgeable about several topics, one of them being health policies, which in the nursing practices, nurses can offer.

My rationale for choosing Nurse’s role in politics is that I like how nurses offer good services in policing and the political field. If there is a need to implement any political function, their survival needs to be involved, a position that nurses conduct in offering health care for people’s survival. In survival, how individuals need to be involved in different communities is covered. There may be challenges in the involvement in various communities hindering political leaders from their survival, of which some challenges can be addressed by health care professionals such as nurses (Alhassan et al., 2019). In the healthcare era, there might be challenges affecting political leaders, which are handled by nurses, which is the reason that made me choose this topic. Visionary nurses are helpful in significant involvement in bettering the nursing profession.

The articles support my topic since they validate the significance of nurses in politics by giving out their roles. Nurses are significant in the creation of political awareness (Alhassan et al., 2019). Nurses are not spectators as patients prove that they are essential in creating awareness and addressing different issues of injustices. Nurses also register professional members in nursing organizations and engage in registration as voters and the voting process. Although nurses do not engage in higher intensity activities, the articles prove that nurses engage in lower-intensity actions like voting during elections (Alhassan et al., 2019). Since many people use nurses as role models, their involvement in social-political activities makes several individuals engage in them. Nurses are very close to the clients of the healthcare customers compared to the other healthcare professionals. The closeness of the nurses to their clients makes them compelling characters in the political sector since they fight for a healthy run for the other individuals within the industry.

On health policies, nurses are the first individuals to recognize issues of inadequacies (Alhassan et al., 2019). Inequalities within the political field, such as deliveries, are solved by expertise in nursing by holding discussions since they are very close to their clients. Due to their requisite education and professionalism, nurses effectively address social determinants around the globe, thus impacting the population’s health. The health sector’s promotion level is influenced by health policies upheld by nurses in their involvement in the political sector. Nurses attend political meetings, a significant role since they offer healthcare education, and with nurses’ presence, people are secure. Also, the articles prove the role of nurses in politics since they attend the political symposium (Alhassan et al., 2019). Moreover, nurses write letters to parliamentarians addressing health issues affecting the community and the political sector. Nurses also write down articles required for health publication.
