Protests have been a common approach citizens have used to raise their voices and force the government and other influential bodies to work and address them. Recently, there have been massive protests in the UK against the Israeli-Palestinian war, which have also caused protests in different parts of the world. The focal point of the protest was to call for the British government to act to stop this conflict through a ceasefire rather than the humanitarian pause suggested. Many of the protestors have been rallying for days to show solidarity with Palestine and questioning their government efforts in such issues where babies and innocent civilians are killed. The protest in the UK was sparked by the indiscriminate killing of Palestinian citizens and the destruction of their homes, uniting Palestinians and other people from varying ethnicities, races, and religious beliefs to join in the protest as a sign of solidarity.
Moreover, due to the protests, the Israel-Palestine war was framed in social justice terms as oppressive and unjust despite some political leaders saying the demonstrations were provocative. The strategies employed by the UK protestors were effective and caught the attention of targeted individuals, organizations, and governments. The protesters rallied in large numbers in different parts of the UK, gathering thousands in specific places, chanting Palestine, critiquing the government, and talking about humanity (Al Jazeera, 2023). Moreover, they swore to continue protesting as long as the war continued, which was an effective approach as it pushed the government to act, and the issue caught the attention it needed. The protest strategies were effective and led significant players like the USA, the UN, and other humanitarian bodies to intervene in the conflict and discuss social policy. The US government called the two countries’ leaders to reach an agreement, letting the two countries be separate entities. The US government was to act as their mediator. However, there have been obstacles to reaching an agreement on the solution to the war, increasing the war between the two countries. Palestine-Israel war has been a concern over the years despite the relentless effort to create peace among these two countries. However, the attack of the Hamas group on Israel had deemed the hope of having peace and reaching an agreement to cease fire and make (Treisman, 2023). However, despite the effectiveness of the strategies employed by the protestors, they would be more effective if they had political allies and coalition with other organizations. These strategies would increase their numbers significantly and get the attention of the targeted groups.
In summary, the UK peace protest to cease fire between Palestine and Israel advocated for peace and an appropriate strategy to reach a social policy. Palestinian citizens, including women and children, were being killed by the massive bombing of Israel, which raised concerns and numerous protests in different parts of the world. The protesters used effective strategies to push for social policies to be enacted despite the challenges of the two countries reaching an agreement. Moreover, they would have also used political allies and merged with other organizations to increase their effectiveness.
