To gauge results that enhance better decision-making, healthcare workers conduct healthcare statistics whereby they determine the health and the wellbeing of the population in which they are serving. Statistical analysis is important to the government and the healthcare servers as it gives them a sense of knowledge on the existing symptoms among the people and the quality and quantity of treatment to offer. Clinical servers make use of statistics in their daily services to determine the history of their clients. Medical researchers also use statistical analysis to estimate the magnitude of association and test hypotheses. Therefore, statistics plays a significant role in quality, safety, health promotion, and leadership as discussed below.
Significance of healthcare application quality
The wish of every healthcare organization is to provide quality services to their clients. This can only be achieved through the organization carrying out a proper statistical analysis to avoid the risks of having a large population with various symptoms with fewer medications. A data-driven strategy is important in the improvement of the quality of services provided. Hospitals can be able to determine their performance, areas that they need to improve on, and the areas of their perfection (Nicolay et al., 2012)
Significance of healthcare application on safety
Patients’ safety should be a key consideration. Nurses and doctors should ensure that the patient’s data is safe and free from error because incomplete and inaccurate data in one’s health records can be detrimental to the patient’s safety hindering the delivery of patient-centric care as said by (Faltin et al., 2012). To achieve patient safety in healthcare statistics, the healthcare servers should ensure proper involvement of technology and they should also collect sufficient data that may be used to contribute to any issues that may be brought up by their patients (Nicolay et al., 2012). Healthcare institutions should also implement policies that contribute to patients’ safety such as developing a rapid response plan and building a safety compliance plan. These measures contribute to the safety of the patient. Appropriate data selection, analysis, comparison, and presentation helps to prevent errors such as bad data hence increasing the safety of the patients.
Significance of healthcare application on health promotion
Statistical analysis is used to provide the findings of various medical investigations to the general population. (Gordon, 2012), state that a substantial part of professional activity is devoted to health promotion and relies heavily on early estimates and reporting. Having knowledge on the prevalence of diseases, the rate at which infections are increasing, the number of carriers of a given virus, and other pertinent data provide an extra preventive incentive. The rising concern in the united states about cancer has This analysis is used to promote the healthcare sector.
Significance to leadership
The significance of statistics may be expressed as the ability to control certain areas of operations and make timely judgments regarding the necessary actions with reference to healthcare leadership. (Gordon, 2012), suggest that if nursing staff communicates with the administration and takes critical measures to monitor problems and report, this is the key to a stable and professional team. Therefore, the standing of a leader significantly depends on how thoroughly and fast statistical evaluation is accomplished. Leaders can also use these assessments to gauge their abilities to deal with employee difficulties, foster learning, give their workers agency, and foster the greatest possible working conditions.
Application of statistics in my organization
In my place of work, I am frequently required to conduct statistical analyses. I obtain this statistical data through direct observation, experiments, and surveys. I use this statistical knowledge in different aspects. For example, I take the morbidity rate and divide it by the number of patients in order to arrive at a proportional ratio. When it comes to determining how many patients have been hospitalized or discharged compared to the total number of people in the department, statistics are also used. Because of the accuracy of the data, it is possible to come to a conclusion that is helpful in the decision-making process through the use of these calculations. Consequently, statistics play a major role in the provision of quality, leadership, and safe services.
