1. Introduction
The increasing demand for tall structures in Kuwait has made sustainable construction techniques more important and called for a reassessment of the methods and materials used. The environmental effect of the global building industry, which is characterized by resource depletion and ecological deterioration, calls for a paradigm change in favor of sustainability. Although current research discusses certain aspects of sustainable building, there are not many thorough studies specifically designed to take advantage of the opportunities and problems that Kuwait’s socioeconomic and environmental situation provides. This research aims to close this gap by examining current practices and identifying the best materials and techniques for promoting sustainability in Kuwaiti high-rise building construction.
Although there is plenty of data on sustainable construction in the literature, it is unclear how Kuwait might benefit from such discoveries. In addition, the area has particular difficulties, such as harsh weather patterns and a regulatory structure that calls for careful consideration of all options. In order to establish a customized, context-specific strategy for the construction of sustainable high-rise buildings, this research will critically examine current techniques and assess their environmental repercussions.
By identifying obstacles that impede the broad implementation of sustainable practices, the study aims to provide practical suggestions that align with the distinct requirements of Kuwait’s building sector. As environmental concerns throughout the world intensify, Kuwait must address the long-term reliability of high-rise buildings as they not only represent a local necessity but also a vital component of international efforts to promote sustainable urban development.
2. Statement Of The Problem
The complicated relationship of environmental, economic, and regulatory elements presents a significant challenge for high-rise building development in Kuwait. While the building sector around the world struggles with the necessity of long-term sustainability, Kuwait has its own unique set of obstacles that prevent the general adoption of environmentally friendly techniques (Al-Haroun, 2021). The primary problem is the lack of customized solutions considering Kuwait’s particular climatic conditions, complex legislative framework, and socioeconomic aspects. The current state of construction shows a preference for conventional techniques and materials, frequently ignoring the long-term environmental effects of tall buildings.
The idea for the adoption of eco-friendly construction in Kuwait has taken longer before it would be accomplished. There are several reasons for this hesitation, such as ingrained construction standards, a lack of understanding, and the absence of strong financial incentives (Ismael & Shealy, 2018). Kuwait’s dry environment and high temperatures provide unique difficulties that call for creative solutions for energy-efficient buildings that can also endure harsh weather conditions.
This study attempts to explore the causes of the slow adoption of sustainable practices in order to better understand the complexities of these issues. The project aims to provide a path for a paradigm change in Kuwait’s construction sector toward the creation of ecologically responsible and comprehensive high-rise buildings by identifying the particular obstacles preventing advancement.
3. Objectives
- Describe Kuwait’s current high-rise building construction methods.
- Examine the obstacles impeding the use of environmentally friendly building techniques.
- Analyze the effects that current building techniques and materials have on the environment.
- Provide suggestions on the best practices and supplies Kuwait should use to build sustainable high-rises.
4. Methodology
The variety of architectural and construction solutions and technological advancements that have gone into the construction of high-rise structures today is remarkable. Due to the scope of the problem, it is necessary to take a unique approach to conducting a thorough investigation of the technical innovations utilized in constructing these structures. Consequently, an approach comprising the subsequent components shall be devised:
- Obtaining data on cutting-edge high-rise building techniques and completing the images and films that show the construction of these structures,
- Interpretation of data gathered based on literature, often addressing the issue of cutting-edge technology utilized in finished structures,
- Analyzing the architecture and construction of a few high-rise structures using a structured diagram; in these projects, the tools used were far more sophisticated than in earlier ones.
A system like this made it easier to conduct a systematic analysis, with special attention paid to the building’s construction framework, vibration-damping mechanism, low-emission glass, ultra-strong concrete and steel, triple or double skin facades, and other components essential to the energy efficacy of the structure.

7. Conclusion
The sustainable growth of Kuwait’s high-rise structures depends on this research. Through addressing existing knowledge gaps and offering useful advice, the project seeks to spur a change in the construction industry in the region towards more sustainable practices. The results will help the building sector as well as Kuwait’s dedication to resilience in the face of international adversity and environmental preservation. We are looking for funds to guarantee the project’s successful completion and help Kuwait’s urban landscape become more sustainable in the future.
