Umm Kulthum – Enta Oumry Concert

Introduction

After a 60-year career, Umm Kulthum recorded around 300 songs, and her cries of longing still reverberate from cabs, radios, and cafes from across Arab world today. While singing sophisticated Arabic poetry, she had a profound impact on some of the best vocalists in the Western world. Umm Co. photography by jacob sna as well as the Golden Era, a musical tribute to the Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum, was staged in London on Monday night near the Palladium. Her story came to life during the first minute of a theatrical show featuring some of the top singers and entertainers in the business.

Perspective from the point of view of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5bIk9zH8KY

While growing up, Kulthm was raised by impoverished grandparents inside the Nile Delta village of Tamayet el-Zahayra Despite the fact that no one knows exactly when she was formed, most people believe it was in 1904. A mosque imam in the city where she was raised, Kuthm’s paternal grandmother Fatma al-great-grandfather, Malj’s Abdullah al (Antic, 2021).. Virginia Danielson’s book, Umm Kulthm, Arabian Arts, and Egyptian Civilization in the Twentieth Century, argues that the Kulthm formerly composed poetry and song about their home village of Umm Kulthm on the Arabian Gulf.

Some people, who could have been susceptible to distraction, found new levels of focus when the title and author of the article were announced immediately after the first note was played. In order to get the audience enthusiastic, the Echoes of Egyptian Band got a combination of Arabic and Persian music. A kaleidoscope of colour and sound came on the screen. As soon as the stringed ensembles started playing, a flood of individuals showed up to dance. There is no other word to describe it other than “amazing.”

The experience of euphoria brought on by taarab music, according to Racy, is characterized by a loss of normal awareness in the midst of intense musical concentration. Performer Umm Kulthum displays emotional and psychological reactions while singing the Howa surah Elhanan Ghalib. If the emotions of the listener become too overwhelming, they may weep uncontrollably or perhaps faint.

Umm Kulthum was a very well Arab performer of the twentieth century, sometimes referred to as “the voice of Egypt.” More than two years after the fact, millions of Arabs continue to adore her work. Her vocals lacked depth and sophisticated delivery when compared to those of past eras’ stronger vocalists. However, her voice had a contralto timbre. Her vocal range, when performed acoustically, ranged from a lyric soprano all the way up to a chorus.

There is a notable difference between the song’s lyrics and the original poem’s. There were four types of deviations considered: deletion, interchange, inclusion, and distribution. This song’s lyrics span 134 lines across 33 verses (Podeh, 2021). About one-fifth of the story’s lyrics are included into the song’s melody and harmony. In the song’s first few verses, lyrics with the first and fourth choruses are merged to establish a new tune. The subject of the play piqued my interest because it concentrated on Umm Kulthum’s challenges with professional advancement. Even if the musical doesn’t make it to New York or London, non-Arab audiences may find its story-telling method fascinating.

Conclusion

Since music has been a part of our lives for so long, other cultures and organizations have been ignored or misinterpreted. Some words and phrases have changed their meaning significantly throughout time. A few subtle linguistic changes changed the song’s mood. It was either better or worse.
