The Impact of Technology on the School System

In the 21st century, technology has played a vital role in all aspects of life, including education. Technology advancements have significantly transformed the educational systems making learning more accessible and consuming less time. Technology in academics has led to its digitization, with teachers helping their students acquire the required skills to pursue their career goals (American University n.p). During the pre-technological era, educators did not have various tools to enhance their teaching. Mainly, they depended on chalk and blackboard to train the learners. However, technological advancement has transformed education from teacher-centered to learner-centered (Bajraktari). Technology has considerably impacted the academic system by creating a more engaging learning environment. According to Bajraktari, online classes have encouraged learners to participate in lessons actively. The students who find it hard to express themselves can now do it by joining online discussion boards. Similarly, Raja and Nagasubramani support the significance of online learning since it provides flexible studying programs (33). Students can apply for online courses as they still work. While encouraging learners’ engagement, technology also improves their collaboration (Bajraktari n.p). Online learning facilitated by technological advancement has enhanced teaching and learning. Today, training tools have increased in the institutions improving the teaching methods. The internet has also made it possible for students to learn independently by providing a wealth of resources that can be accessed at any time. This has been a boon for students who prefer to learn at their own pace, or who have difficulty attending traditional classes. With the internet, students can find online courses, tutorials, and videos on any topic they wish to learn about (Kulasegarah 874). They can also join online discussion forums to ask questions and get feedback from other learners. Additionally, there are many online learning tools, such as flashcards and quizzes, that can help students to consolidate their knowledge. Overall, the internet has made it easier for students to learn independently by giving them more control over their learning process (Farrell 110). With so many resources at their fingertips, students can learn at their own pace and in their own time, without having to rely on traditional classroom-based learning.

Finally, Technology has made assessment and feedback more efficient. Technology has definitely changed the way we assess students and give feedback. In the past, teachers would have to spend hours grading essays and tests and then writing out feedback for each student (Shieh 206). With technology, teachers can now use apps and software to quickly grade tests and essays and give feedback. This is definitely more efficient and saves the teacher a lot of time (Kirkwood 20). Another way technology has changed assessment and feedback is through the use of online learning platforms. With these platforms, teachers can set up assignments and quizzes for their students and then see how they are doing in real-time. This allows for more immediate feedback and also allows teachers to see which areas their students are struggling in (Chauhan, 20). Overall, technology has made assessment and feedback much more efficient and effective. It has also allowed for more data-driven instruction, as teachers can now track student progress and see which areas need more attention.
