Introduction

Healing Duration and Return to Play
The period an athlete should abstain from football after a concussion differs depending on the intensity of the injury (McCrea et al., 2021). However, not all of them are mild because the severity varies from case to case, and those with severe concussions may take months or even years to recover fully. Athletes must be symptom-free at rest and with exertion as per American Academy of Neurology guidelines before resumption. This normally consists of a gradual increase of exercises systematically, ensuring that any step is achieved without reoccurring symptoms.
