For individuals who are not able to sit in this position, they may sit on a chair. However, they should remain mindful and ensure an erect body posture. This practice is one of the most straightforward meditation exercises, but it often has various emotional benefits. For instance, it leads to sound sleep (Bhavana, 71). The quality of one’s sleep is a significant determinant of emotional well-being. This positive impact indicates that the benefits of meditation provide a significant interplay between one’s emotional well-being and individual performance. No wonder corporate managers remain watchful of habits that may undermine the employees’ emotional well-being to maximize organizational performance.

Buddhist meditation may also help improve emotional well-being through its impact on depression. Specifically, mindful meditation demands that a meditator focus on his thoughts without being trapped. For someone experiencing negative thought patterns, this meditation may help him separate his thoughts from himself, thus destroying his negative thought pattern. This approach helps the depressed individual to identify patterns leading to his depressive symptoms and identify better approaches to manage them. Moreover, this practice may boost his positivity, which aids in the reduction of negative thoughts. As depression is a significant hindrance to emotional well-being, mindful meditation is, therefore, effective in enhancing emotional well-being.

Similarly, the Buddhist meditation focuses on impermanence as a critical factor. By understanding this factor, a troubled individual may understand that his depressive thoughts are temporary. Since meditation practices focus on demonstrating empathy and positive emotions, one can achieve compassion and kindness, enhancing emotional well-being. Furthermore, focusing on impermanence may help an individual accept changing life patterns, such as difficult economic times, by realizing that the situation is not permanent. This effect results in improved emotional resilience, a critical factor in safeguarding one’s emotional well-being.

Other forms of meditation practices focus on ethical, intellectual, and spiritual subjects (Bhavana, 74). Delving further into spiritual meditation, it is clear that a person can connect with a higher consciousness. This spiritual dimension of meditation among Asians results in a higher sense of purpose and fulfilment for an individual, transcending into improved emotional well-being (Kristeller). By attaining a connection with spirituality, the individual develops positive thoughts that inform his reasoning, thinking process and acting. A higher satisfaction and acceptance of individual activities may result in a calming effect on the mind.
