Strategic Business Management

Scavenger Media change strategy

Change is permanent in business due to the market dynamics with frequent taste changes and demand from customers. Companies have to change and get in new shapes with a promising future and improve sales and profit percentages. These changes may include changes in organizational structure, culture, leadership, technology, and even the niche in the market to tap new spaces that can increase the profit margins (Preece, 2020). Scavenger plans to shift their gears by improving the arts and entertainment industry to produce more informative and educational content that can impact the world, which keeps on dropping the ethical codes that hold society together. Scavenger will not be the past company to take a new path to help them survive in the more competitive world; Netflix, Alibaba, Tencent, Adobe, and LEGO did it before and amassed a lot of profits. Some big companies had to take a new approach in the market different from their original plan due to stiff competition or new opportunities that needed to be utilized. Natural resources, labor, capital resources, and entrepreneurship as a manager are the main factors to focus on; they will help ensure a smooth transition of Scavenger media.

Primary factors

Natural resources

Many forces shape and influence the performance of a business in the marketplace, mostly when they are required or planning to change. When coming up with a strategic change plan, it is essential to consider these natural forces or resources and know-how to prepare for them to work to your advantage as a manager. These factors include environment, technology, political, sociocultural, economic, and legal factors. The PESTEL analysis tool is the most suitable for evaluating. Starting with political factors that shape the market and how freely the business can operate through the influence of change in politics, which influences the government by coming up with new tax policies, trade tariffs, and business regulations. Political stability will always be essential in the smooth running of the business. The new Scavenger media plan will boost this stability as people embrace the new shared media’s ethical, societal approach. When a country has strong ethics of conduct, there will be no tension during the election, attracting new investors.

Economic factors will be another natural resource that calls for more attention as they can destroy the performance of an organization no how better it is organized. These changes have to consider what the customer wants and help them solve their problems. Finding the solution needed most in the market creates loyalty, which positively impacts the organization. Some of the main economic factors are consumers’ disposable income, gross domestic product, unemployment rates, and interest rates which could well balance to keep the company moving forward (Razmerita et al., 2016). The strategy focuses on the customer and the company’s performance as they are both codependent on each other. The third crucial natural resource to consider is sociocultural factors, as these are the factors that hold the society together. They include two groups, socio-cultural and social demographics, as they house the values and ethics the society held close to their heart. Other factors are population size, gender, race, and age other than cultural trends. As Scavenger focuses on delivering informative and educational content, it is essential to study the dynamics of the audience and come up with a better way to reach them while at the same time respecting their values and cultural practices. A good market will be researched and use the best methods possible to deliver the media without offending anyone while at the same time respecting their values and improving their lives.

Labor

Labor is a group of resources or factors that affect or influence productivity in any projects conducted in organizations. Labor moves the wheels of productivity, ensuring profitability and actualizations of set goals. Being an essential sector in running the company, labor calls for diversity to create a positive balance that can impact productivity. Factors like workers’ skills, management practices, technological change, and changes in input like capital should always be shaped to house the labor factor. Labor is mainly narrowed down to the amount of work conducted within one hour, which keeps on changing depending on the different demographics. The changes will improve the accessibility of the work area, accelerate the schedule, create a suitable environment for the planned changes, find a better location to boost marketing of our content, and factors like renovations that help inspire and motivate the employees to increase their work rate per hour.

Secondary factors

Capital resources

There are human-made resources that are used in an organization to create services and goods and help them remain productive while at the same time serving their customers. These resources can be machinery, equipment, or infrastructure that boost the company’s production rate when utilized well. Capital resources include five types of capital; natural, financial, social, human, and produced capital. Financial or economic capital is used to start or get the company off the ground, which may take equity and debt. When utilized well, it have proved to take the organization to unimaginable heights. The second factor is human capital, which refers to abilities and skills that, though not tangible, are key to the business’s success like any other factor (Razmerita et al., 2016). Education classes, healthy-living programs, and professional development seminars are some methods or programs that can improve human capital to maximize productivity. The third is social capital which comprises intangible assets like the relationships and desires in the workplace. They are significant assets as they foster the right environment for developing creativity and innovation created through mutuality, reciprocity, and social networks in the workplace.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship in an organization is a structure or factor that impacts the emergence and development of new ideas among every team member conducting the organization activities from the juniors, seniors, and the management. Though mostly confused with the managerial organization, they are slightly different in characteristics and structure; a decision or financial model, resources gathering, human resource management, specific innovation model, and utilization scheme. The aim is to optimize every sector to ensure a better profit level is attained. Improving markets access and human capital supply by creating a suitable environment for innovation and creativity development to improve talent and hunt for new talents. The other factor of great importance is funding access. The plan is to increase sales and profit levels in Scavenger media and ensure a cost-effective approach while maximizing their returns and output. The development of talent of the already present employees can be a critical factor that can optimize production only by putting some short-term training section in place. The aim of this training section will help improve the employees’ skills while enabling them to the new model of business with easiness. Change should always be gradual to avoid any losses of stress the team will be working with to achieve the new Scavenger media vision.

Conclusion

As a manager, it is my place to prepare my team well for these changes in the Scavenger media, either physically or mentally. Change should always be gradual to foster a positive environment for improvement of the employability skills of the employees and the knowledge base to keep propelling the business forward. Adapting to this new business venture for Scavenger media will call for proper grasping of the primary and secondary factors and use them to our advantage to compete with other companies in the market. The truth is you cannot prepare for change enough or wait for the right moment to pursue this vision, but gradually taking small steps to house the changes in the business will be a great strategy that will finally deliver the required results hence impacting society and the country significantly. The concept of a customer-centered approach, working to improve their lives, will be a critical strategy that will create a good relationship with the customer, expanding the market share as it is one of the main targets.

Scavenger media vision

“To create exciting and engaging content that will push audiences to question and think about their humanity and those of others. Our content will challenge corporate greed and unethical behavior, both in the public and private sphere.” It is sad what the world is turning today, globalization taking away the best of humanity, countries, and companies first for self-interest and gains without caring about the result of the world of the society they are located in. Poor salaries, poor customers services, the questionable relationship between the companies and society, environmental pollution, greed, and unethical behaviors are common words that go through our minds when thinking about the corporates of today’s world (Men et al., 2020). Capitalism, self-interest, and globalization are robbing our humanity while at the same time leading to high carbon levels leading to global warming, which if the world does not wake and prevent its increasing effects, it will wipe us off the face of the earth soon than predicted. World fires and drought are witnessed every place now due to the lack of ethics in the society we live in, which has allowed globalization and unethical conduct to take a deep course and grow to a giant hard to defeat (Vlados, 2019). It is the vision of Scavenger to bring back this code of ethics. This togetherness once held us as one society caring about the wellness of one another through the sharing of informative and educational content that will hold humans more responsible and lead them to the light at the end of the tunnel, the light of change. Change management will be a crucial step in achieving the vision of the company will at the same time reflect on the primary and secondary factors of production, as all should work in harmony.

The first step is to create awareness and prepare the organization for change; as the manager, I will elaborate on the need for change. Illustration of the problems or challenges that call for change to impact the society more in leading them to a new pathway of society spirit where ethics are at the core of our every activity. Employees bring in the concept of human capital, which is a vital part of the journey to the company’s vision, and they should agree with what is required of them during this new venture. Cultural preparation should first take place before the progress moves to logistics. The second step is to develop a plan to attain this set vision (Vlados, 2019). Once the employees are ready to embrace the organizational change, it comes to developing a more realistic plan of achieving the set goals. The plan should contain: strategic goals, key performance indicators, project stakeholders and team, project scope. Professional team development is ley during this process as people roles will change some requiring some training to gain jew skills, which will take place in phases of three months and will keep on happening depending on the market demand.

The third step is implementing these changes as the company’s vision demands and the set plan or strategy. These changes may include employees’ behavior and roles, systems, strategy, processes, the company’s structure, and many other vital factors that will lead the company to success. This step calls for managers to empower, inspire and motivate the employees. Activities like frequent communication will be key between the management and the employees or employees to employees hence boosting the process of removing any roadblocks. The fourth step is to embed changes in culture and practices in the company to prevent it from going back to the former self. This process should be conducted gradually to guide the whole organization to its new self and shape (Vlados, 2019). When these changes are instilled in the organization, it eliminates the chances of backsliding, creating a forward moment to the actualization of the company vision. The last step to manage change in the process of vision attainment is to review the progress and then conduct self-analysis on the results using the right tool to identify which places demands for change and rectification. Completing a change initiative does not conclude to success, and project post mortem can help provide a view inside the change process to identify the lessons learned that can be utilized in future change efforts.

In conclusion company’s vision and change demands a proper plan as to when you fail to plan, it will be the same case as planning to fail. As you evaluate the change progress to the attainment of the vision, the planning step is an important step that calls for the best minds in the workplace. During this process, it is vital to put every view of the people on your team to consider and choose the best functional approach that can lead to the attainment of the vision. While considering factors like time and cost, the process should be effective and efficient.

Control process

The process of control has been used for a long time to debate set goals and standards, quantify performance, gauge deviation, and correct any aberrations during the process of change after the planning stage. This process of modifying and assessing performance helps companies meet their objectives and plans in the set time; it is a self-reflection to see what’s working and what is not working and come up with the right way to make everything work. This may be done by changing the plans to more working ones, changing the tools used, or even consulting an external team to help move the progress forward to attaining set goals (Burkov et al., 2015). Control is the last tool in the management process, and it will work well if all other steps are executed well. This is a process of collecting information about systems, persons, processes, groups, which are critical components in deciding every part or department. As the company manager with the management team, we will work with a controlling system that will deliver any required success. Setting standards, measuring the performance, evaluating deviations, and correcting deviations are the key four steps in the control systems, giving direction to the company during the vision and mission attainment process.

Establishing standards

Standards are performance criteria to measure the set strategy plan’s performance or progress (Burkov et al., 2015). They are predetermined moments that help managers understand what to expect before it happens as per the planning program of ethically impacting the society and eliminating greediness and other ill behaviors affecting the corporate and the society. The progress is well monitored, and setting up some milestones or targets will help determine how to share informative and educational content with society. As a manager, these standards will be vital in checking the performance of attaining change and the company’s vision. They are an essential part of this change initiative. If they are not present, it will be more challenging to determine the organization’s process and direction through the journey of attaining its vision. They are essential as they help to develop well-defined and measurable objectives.

Measuring the performance

Performance against standards should be conducted frequently to determine shortcomings and where the plan needs improvements (Burkov et al., 2015). It is essential to measure performance against the set standards to discover any deviations before they occur and find ways to avoid losses or wastage of time. The process should always be time and cost-effective. Predicted or appraising actual performance is well drawn during this process to determine the team members’ expectations and which work rate should be aiming to achieve. This actual performance is measured against the standards set by management to direct them in the required direction. Individual performance measurement is essential as it is easier when one person is involved than the whole team of employees. The measurement of performance is more difficult with the ascending levels of management.

Deviation evaluation

This compares the previous set norms and the measured results during the controlling process against the set standards (Getha-Taylor et al., 2015). When all the benchmarks are attained, it is essential to inform the team that everything is okay and under control. Deviation occurs when the plans are not moving as expected, calling for a change to fit the new requirements and conditions. Many factors can lead to deviation; budget shortage, natural factors, and maybe the demise of critical positions that need some replacement. These factors call corrective plan, which calls the next step in play.

Correcting deviations

A corrective action plan occurs when the manager and the management detect deviations during the controlling process. The phase is essential as it targets to develop corrective actions when performance falls short of what is expected. The remedial measure many take different shapes like changing one or more organization functions. As the manager in Scavenger, it is my position to correct any defects occurring in the actual performance. This process calls to all ways be present to notice any deviation so you can take the required steps to correct the sectors’ plans with shortcomings.

Conclusion

The process of control is essential in achieving the Scavenger media vision to impact as many peoples as possible and take the society we live in back to the right course. The rot in society needs to be put in control, and this vision is an excellent plan to do so. Following every step will be vital to evaluating the planned changes and vision. Change is permanent and, at the same time, so delicate that if you get one step wrong, you may even take the company to a worse position than before. Hence, it calls for proper planning, execution, and control processes to evaluate every concept well. The exact process calls for the employees to be involved in this planning process as they are vital parts of the company that determines its success. A good leader should not how only know how to plan but also be able to teach the employees how to do the task at hand and motivate them and inspire them to be the best version needed by the company. Solid leadership and management are some of the most critical factors to drive any organization through the process of change and attaining a new vision and mission.
