Reasons Why I Should Join the Think Tank Team

There are various ways depicting relevance between sociology and social health, from the concepts of social environment and the effects to human health to lifestyle factors in disease in human health. Many people always consider health as a mainstream subject of science and medicine. Consequently, most of the disease etiology is often linked to life factors such as obesity, type II diabetes, cancers, and stress have been majorly caused by social life behavior. Sociologists are needed to be part of research teams specializing in health concerns with various significant sociology concepts inputs. Therefore, in this paper, I will be pointing out the importance of my participation in the health issues think-tank projects; from social structures and social experiences that would be significant for the team.

Fast forward, I boast of well high rich sociological background that would impact various outcomes in health policymaking, research, and products. The sociological approach would not only assist the team in finding out why an individual is suffering from a given illness and define the social structure that influences a particular group of society’s rates of disease (Whatley & Davidson, 2020 1.3). My sociology background would enable the team to understand and define why people from a given social location would experience higher rates of disease infection than the other group from a different social environment. Therefore, knowledge on sociology would positively impact the various policymaking processes for various social structures in such as social classes, race, gender, and ethnicity, and the impact of social.

Having full sociological background, the concept of social/ bioethics would be fundamental in the team. Health is a multidisciplinary sector consequently; it would constantly be subjected to an ethical dilemma. This will also require my input as an experienced, moral resolution from a social aspect would be necessary as I would deal with issues of equity, justice, and equality within the think tank group. This is a significant area that would require a sociological approach to help build a formidable team. According to Whatley & Davidson (2020), bioethical issues are not easily anticipated by the biomedical personnel but rather by social experts; more significantly, resolution of the ethical problems within the healthcare system. Therefore, I will be playing a significant role in enhancing and dealing with the bioethics within the team.

Another area that would require my input is the health policy and politics. For instance, the health politics of the society would be dictated by the various dynamics such as which social club would require which resources or the facilities, health personnel, benefits. Consequently, different sociological approaches would be fundamental in the formulation of healthcare policies. For instance, I would be assessing the social impacts of health policy and providing which community or society would benefit from a given procedure and how the other social background would require a completely different approach that would suit their sociological needs. Similarly, I would strive to determine how a given policy should be modified to enrich a given society instead of just generalizing the organization’s needs (Tommy Douglas 2020). According to Whatley and Davidson (2020 1.2), an institution is a community or group of individuals with a common interest that may be different from the other. Consequently, addressing various needs within the societies would also help the team priorities policies that will effectively benefit the community. When such policies are not sociologically oriented, the think tank group may not effectively improve the healthcare system within a given society.

More fundamentally, a role that would require my sociological background is my role in mental health problems regarding risk factors, treatment, and care. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has been affecting quite a lot of people in society; fast forward, ASD is a mental problem caused by a deficit in social interaction through the various communication channels and behavioral interaction. This is a social challenge that requires the collaboration of the sociologist and medical combining effort to address (Whatley & Davidson, 2020 2.3). The research surrounding ASD should involve a sociologist to provide various social health factors that enhance and impact the condition. The mental health problem is a social construction challenge that a sociologist would effectively and adequately address. For instance, during enacting policies that would be striving for care, prevention of the disease would require my vast knowledge of sociology to ensure the issue is addressed correctly. The impact of the policies would be essential to the various communities.

In addition, knowledge of the social structure would enable me to associate various illnesses to social and cultural backgrounds. Therefore, the team studies of epidemiology would also dictate the social construct, such as why a community group would be susceptible to various agents of the disease. As a sociologist, different health concerns do not affect an individual but affect society; therefore, my knowledge of sociology would help the team understand the prevalence of a given disease and how cultural diversity would impact their acceptance of treatments. The essential tool for the group’s success would be to understand how unequal access to the healthcare system and social imbalance affect various healthcare outcomes. Therefore, my sociological understanding would enable the team to examine and evaluate how society’s culture. The conflict approach would be essential, especially in addressing the social inequities, especially how people are disadvantaged and the social background system to various healthcare aspects. Such knowledge would enable me to influence the team to pursue equality across social integration. Consequently, I would impact the team in multiple ways through my skills and experience. I would be glad if I were granted the opportunity to join the group.
