1.0 Introduction
Advancements and differentiation in technology, mainly in the artificial intelligence field, are crucial as they are associated with many potentials in fortifying the speciality of nursing informatics. Artificial intelligence, in many instances, is aimed at revolutionizing patient care by enhancing clinical decision-making and improving patient outcomes and care efficiencies. The development of the project proposal aims to implement artificial intelligence technology in the healthcare organization to address the goals (Choudhury & Asan, 2020).
Increased advances in artificial technology have impacted the healthcare sector positively, thus enhancing patient care and outcomes. The proposal targets leveraging emerging technologies in art artificial intelligence to fortify nursing informatics as a speciality.
2.0 Project description
The project proposed in the study mainly involves implementing nursing technology in nursing informatics to improve Improvement outcomes and, at the same time, care efficiencies. Mainly in the proposal, I propose developing and integrating an artificial intelligence powered by a clinical decision support system (CDSS) into the existing electronic health record (EHR) system. The CDSS is crucial as it is aimed at leveraging artificial intelligence algorithms and machine learning in the provision of real-time and provision of evidence-based recommendations towards healthcare professionals.
3.0 Stakeholders impacted
In this project, the most impacted stakeholders include the healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses and allied health professionals who mostly enjoy the benefits of enhanced decision support (Parry, 2022). Other stakeholders are the patients who are tailored to receive more accurate and timely care, and the healthcare organization generally is impacted positively because the healthcare organization, in many instances, gains improved patient outcomes and increased care efficiencies. Nurses are also the stakeholders in the project proposal such that the project is tailored to influence the nursing professionals through augmenting nursing decision skills directly; the project is crucial for the nurses to reduce errors and increase job satisfaction.
4.0 Improved patient outcomes and care efficiencies
The project aims to improve outcomes and care efficiencies among patients, which is achieved by enabling healthcare professionals to make more accurate and timely decisions. The artificial intelligence that CDSS powers aims to analyze the most considerable data, ranging from the patient’s medical history, laboratory results obtained, and current symptoms(Harerimana et al.,2021). The artificial intelligence powered by the CDSS is crucial as it provides personalized recommendations for the best diagnosis, treatment, and medication management strategy that needs to be applied to treat the disease. There is an increased need to leverage artificial intelligence algorithms in that the CDSS can always learn and adapt, and with time, it becomes more accurate and efficient.
The project has many benefits, which can be displayed through various scenarios. For instance, in the case of medication management, in many cases, the CDSS can always aid in alarming and alerting healthcare providers in the healthcare facilities on the potential drug interactions, allergies and the evident contraindications that are specific to an individual patient. Research has shown that this is significant as many scholars have proved that it reduces medication errors and adverse drug events and, thus, on the other hand, improves patient safety. The CDSS is also, in many cases, crucial as it suggests evidence-based treatment protocols and, at the same time, aids in reducing the variations in patient care and thus promotes standardized and best practice approaches.
5.0 The technologies required
In the implementation of the project proposal, several technologies are usually required. There is an increased need for an advanced artificial intelligence platform that is crucial in developing and training the artificial intelligence algorithms that studies show are primarily crucial and necessary for the CDSS(Zhang et al.,2024). Artificial intelligence platform studies show the need to be able to process large data volumes and handle complex computations to the extent of supporting machine learning. There is also a need to integrate with the existing EHR system as it is significant as it ensures seamless incorporation of the CDSS into the workflow of the healthcare professionals.
6.0 The project team and incorporation of Nursing Informaticist
The project’s success is mainly associated with the available collaboration of the multidisciplinary project team, and the following roles need to be included in the project.
Availability of The project manager is ordinarily responsible towards overseeing the project’s progress; he is mandated to manage the available resources and, at the same time, ensure timely implementation of the projects(McGonigle & Mastrian,2021).)
Healthcare providers in this category range from nurses, physicians and other healthcare professionals who, in their professionalism, are capable of applying CDSS. The healthcare provider’s professionals’ input and feedback in the development and implementation stages are essential to the project’s success.
IT specialists are crucial in the project as they aim to support the integration of the CDSS into the existing HER system and provide technical expertise.
The project manager, usually in the project, is responsible for ensuring that he oversees the project implementation and ensuring the project members are coordinated effectively and efficiently. Moreover, at the same time, they are mandated to ensure that the explicit purpose of the project is achieved.
Data analysts in the project team are crucial in ensuring the collected data is analyzed and interpreted in the form of large amounts of patient data. Data analysts are also responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of artificial intelligence algorithms.
7.0 Nurse informaticist
The nurse informaticist in the project is crucial as they often act as a liaison between the nursing staff and the project team. They also play a beneficial role in ensuring CDSS is generally aligned with the nursing workflows. At any time, nurses are positioned to meet the unique needs of the nursing practice. Nurse informaticists are also beneficial to the healthcare staff as they aim to provide them with training and support in the implementation stage.
8.0 Conclusion
Artificial technology implementation in nursing informatics studies has improved patient outcomes and care efficiencies. Ensuring there is leveraging of the artificial intelligence algorithms, the proposed CDSS is crucial as studies show that, in many instances, it provides real-time and evidence-based recommendations to the healthcare professionals and is significant as it enables the healthcare professionals providers to provision more accurate and timely decisions. The project proposal aims to outline and define the artificial intelligence integration usually powered by CDSS in the healthcare organization. The proposal is positioned to highlight the crucial stakeholders and their impacts on the healthcare sector, the needed improvements based on the patient’s outcomes and care efficiencies, and the bestowed role towards the nurse’s informaticist in the project team. With the implementation, it is made accessible to make way for the anticipated future in which artificial intelligence and nursing informatics can work efficiently and hand in hand to deliver exceptional patient care.
