Abstract
A political advocacy program is a strategy that is designed by an individual or agency with the sole aim of influences decisions that are made governing political, economic, and social institutions. The program is meant to lobby legislators’ debate on a particular issue of interest and certain pieces of legislation that need urgent redress. In addition, an advocacy program is a show cause to implement a policy change or actions. The government and various professional organizations are usually involved in the planning process and affecting policies at management levels that address diverse healthcare settings or environments. More importantly, the American Nurses Association is a professional organization which believes that advocacy is the backbone of nursing. Often, nurses call for patients, workplaces, and community improvement through legislation and implementation of policies that are meant to uplift their living standards as well as improve their living standards.
Introduction: Political advocacy program
Nurses usually play a crucial role in advertising the importance of their profession as well as potential positive impacts on access to healthcare services and patient outcomes. Further, legislative and political advocacies in healthcare are deemed essential since they help dictate the direction and future of healthcare. More importantly, nurses become involved in political advocacy through membership registration in a professional nursing organization. Advocacy strategies in nursing are designed to actively present support and promote causes that are related to healthcare. Besides, strategies in nursing advocacy aid in promoting ethical causes, giving support to groups or individuals who may require additional assistance, and provide solutions meant to address healthcare issues. Also, the American Nurses Association (ANA) defines advocacy as a policy meant to support and recommend a course of action in healthcare.
Objective: Political advocacy program proposal outline to be proposed to the American Nurses Association
This political advocacy program proposal aims to advance the nursing profession, improving patient care, and improving healthcare access for the general public. Furthermore, this advocacy program carries sufficient specific language to provide guide to ensure complete implementation. Besides, the American Nurses Association constantly monitors federal agencies as they give ultimatums and regulations and implementation of the proposal. Over the years, nursing has been recognized for its outstanding efforts in promoting advocacies meant to ensure health equity and social justice for all. Nonetheless, the other objective of this program is to consider the role of government and various professional organizations in the process of planning and implementing policies at management levels for diverse healthcare environments.

The primary audience for this advocacy program proposal includes the nurses and staff of the American Nurses Association. Senior organizational members of ANA should get involved in this political advocacy. Also, state representatives based on healthcare policy are the key addressees of this policy since they play a huge role in ensure proper implementation. Nonetheless, members of American Nurses Association are the key audience for this proposal.
Audience (Secondary)
The management and leadership team of the American Nurses Association (ANA) is the secondary audience for this advocacy program who will largely play a huge part in approving my proposal. In essence, the leadership team is known to advocate for nurses, patients, and their families through various ways. Nonetheless, the leadership team uses the strength of the community to advance the nursing profession.
Need Assessment
This advocacy program proposal is needed in the American Nurses Association (ANA) since it acts as a determinant factor in nurturing political competence and equipping nurses with knowledge and understanding required for this pursuit. More importantly, relies on a political approach strategy which means that nurses will be involved in planning this program and ensuring its full phase implementation in healthcare sector.
Supporting research
To ensure success of this advocacy program, there is need to rely on statistics and information from the department of health in the United States Government. Also, journals and articles are needed to extract meaningful information meant to address the program policy and possible strategies that can be adopted by nurses through political advocacy. In essence, research works touching on healthcare policies, completed by various authors, need to be incorporated in this research proposal to ensure validity of the recommendations.
Goals and Objectives
The main goals and objectives for this political advocacy research program and proposal include recommending policies meant to shape the future of healthcare, equipping nurses with deeper knowledge and understanding required for this pursuit to be considered successful, ensuring enough mentorship in order to nurture political competence in healthcare, identifying patient goals, and setting an advocacy plan meant to satisfy these healthcare goals.

Nursing leaders and professionals in American Nurses Association help organize staff training, preparing budgets as well as fostering professional development among nurses.

Nursing needs professionalism and dedication. Therefore, ANA membership rewards nurses for their outstanding commitment. ANA represents interests of close to 4 million members who are Registered Nurses (RNs) through joint membership with other state nurses associations and direct membership in ANA through partnership specialty nursing and affiliate agencies.
