History

Newspapers did not begin to circulate until the 17th century. In different nations, newspapers are published at different times. In 1665, the first English newspaper was published. The first issue of the American periodical “Publick Occurrences Both Foreign and Domestick” was printed in 1690 (Poliakova 111). Affordable high-speed printing presses made it possible to produce thousands of sheets per day at low cost as early as the 1830s. The government of Venice originally printed Notizie scritte in 1556 for one gazette, a very little currency (Howard et al. 13). Current Trends and Development

Working with media designers, their job is to make information more accessible and understandable than in plain text. Instead, they rely on graphics and video to communicate information effectively. Text, photos, and infographics can all be used to accomplish this goal. Newspapers can also be found on all of the major media channels (Poliakova 114). In a global rating of news websites, The New York Times ranks fourth, The Guardian thirteenth, Times of India fourteenth, Washington Post fifteenth, and The Independent twenty-third. Print declines are surpassing digital growth at an unsustainable rate. Two-thirds of Americans acquire at least some of their news from online social media platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, SnapChat, and Google. More than half of Americans aged 50 and up use social media for news (Poliakova 114). As smartphones and tablets become more common, news consumers will be able to access their preferred sources of information at any time and from any location. Finally, traditional newsrooms are laying off staff as social media sites such as Twitter, Snapchat, and YouTube hire more workers to assist with news collecting and distribution (Poliakova 114). Local newspapers are increasingly receiving stories from wire services like the Associated Press so that they can appear in a variety of online and print outlets.
