Philosophy

The philosophy of Chamberlain is aligned to the mission of the college, which is to avail quality education experience distinguished by innovation, academic excellence, integrity, quality services, to produce professional graduates, compassionate, knowledgeable and ethical nurse leaders who can push for transformation in healthcare (Chamberlain University, 2021). The nursing faculty believes nursing education is accomplished when there is accountability and mutual commitment among learners, staff, administration, and the faculty. The academic programs are based on nursing beliefs about the environment, health, learning, teaching, nursing, person, and nursing education (Chamberlain University, 2021). Chamberlain strives and producing qualified nurses to serve diverse people, even the underserved populations.

The primary role in Chamberlain Nursing learning is to equip diverse learners with support services and quality academic experience to become professional nurses and nursing leaders. This is achieved by applying three aims incorporated in the mission of the faculty:

Chamberlain Care ensures education, empowerment, and embodiment among students in the following ways:

  • Academic learning includes competencies and concepts for the development of care practices, including educating self-care practices to patients, which is considered an imperative for enhancing the ability to care for others (Chamberlain University, 2021). In the same way, colleague care is taught to enhance a conducive working environment for teamwork, respect, collegiality, and collaboration.
  • Clinical and nursing education is developed using a holistic experimental learning model that fosters and recognizes every earner’s professional abilities.

  1. Ensuring learning is consistent with the student’s diversities, strengths, and desires.

Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Competencies Analysis

Most of the QSEN Competencies are addressed and incorporated in Chamberlain nursing faculty and everyday practices. Each competence has expectations related to its understanding (knowledge), implementation (skill), and values (attitude) that must be achieved. By the time the learners are graduating, they are expected to have achieved all the QSEN competencies and utilize and address them in their professional practice role. Quality of health care and patients’ safety are the primary cornerstones of the nursing practice. Therefore, everything necessary should be taught to the nurses to ensure they are professional nurses with zero chances of committing errors during their professional practice role. Chamberlain Faculty of Nursing has incorporated these Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Competencies in its mission to ensure they are taught and adhered to by nurses. The primary goal of incorporating them is to improve patient outcomes by providing nursing students with profound and robust foundations they have the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitude needed to provide effective and safe quality care. Chamberlain course outcomes, unit content, and competencies have been mapped to determine that competencies, concepts, and outcomes reflect the national standards reflected by the program outcome.

Chamberlain believes that health is a holistic and dynamic process that projects individuals’ wellness. Health restoration, wellness, promotion, and revitalization activities determine an individual’s energy level and health. Optimal health shows the attainment of the maximum level of natural balance in all spheres throughout the entire life continuum.

Chamberlain believe that every person is unique. Each individual is a holistic and have intrinsic value. A person is a global society, community, family, and individual who consume healthcare with spiritual, psychological, physiologic, cultural, and developmental dimensions (Chamberlain University, 2021). The person freely interacts with the surroundings as a collaborator in healthcare, responsible for their life choices influencing healthcare and health problems.

Chamberlain graduates participate in evidence-based practice and employ technology resources and information processes to attain patient outcomes. Nursing represents educated and empowered people functioning within set standards of the nursing profession, participating in activities guiding healthcare policies, accepting their responsibilities associated with professional practice, and moving within nursing roles set to achieve the dynamic needs of the community (Chamberlain University, 2021).

Chamberlain College of Nursing believe nursing is a practice carrier geared to availing person-centered care by applying the nursing process. Nursing knowledge is derived from nursing principles, social science, humanity, theories, and physical science. Caring is a proof of compassion application of the clinical skills, knowledge, cultural competencies, expert judgments, and ethical principles offered in various nursing practice (Chamberlain University, 2021). Nurses work hand in hand with families, interdisciplinary team members, individuals to ensure patient safety and quality care.
