The novel’s author achieves her objective of shedding light on humans and the significance of human behavior by deftly integrating science fiction elements into her work. The piece focuses heavily on macabre and fantastical elements throughout its narrative. In the narrative, there is a young guy who, after the death of his mother, has the delusion that he can bring a deceased person back to life. Nevertheless, to achieve his goal, he creates a monstrosity out of the dead body of his brother, which results in the traumatization of his own life. The monster insists that his wife, best friend, and other loved ones are all still alive and well inside the home where they were found. Even though the book is mostly science fiction, it has significantly influenced other areas of writing and popular culture. For example, it gave rise to a new subgenre of ghost stories and movie plays.
Referring to the criticism this book has received, the literary periodical “Panorama and National Register June 1818” describes the plot as a weak parody of Mr. Godwin’s well-known St. Leon. The article describes how the novel’s author effortlessly spots ability in academic researchers, but his abilities eventually scur him (Literary Panorama & National Register, 1818). Once Frankenstein is acclaimed, and the story turns further materialistic, the article shows the readers’ disillusionment. The central premise of this essay is that creativity and fantasy are offered, and human heart understanding is revealed. The assessment does not hold back when pointing out the weaknesses in the book. He identifies the story’s hurried, poorly digested planning as the leading cause of the author’s inconsistency (Literary Panorama & National Register, 1818). For instance, after making the monitors, Frankenstein stood there in complete astonishment until the monsters moved their limbs and left. Frankenstein does not learn anything concerning the creature he made for years. Although this article praises the novel’s aesthetic and flawless writing abilities, the art differs in one statement. The book’s quality should be credited to a less accomplished author rather than a big-name, skilled one. According to the story, it may be the creation of a famous writer’s daughter.
In addition, a piece published in 1818 in La Belle Assemblée, also known as Bell’s Court and Fashionable Magazine, suggests that the Frankenstein narrative is nothing more than an outrageous fabrication. The primary author’s point of view is that a human person’s labor should be dreadful, repulsive, and horrific, and it should culminate in pain and unhappiness not just for the worker but also for the individuals who are in his immediate environment. Bell contends in his passages (139-142) that authors capable of writing such a book must have an ethical end goal. The writing abilities shown in the Frankenstein tale are discussed in more detail in this article. For instance, the excitement that Frankenstein felt when he was working on creating a man, the explanation of Frankenstein’s gent as he first bestowed life on him, Frankenstein’s contrition at helping create a man, the assertions that were generated by the monster, and Frankenstein’s anguish on the passing of his creation are some examples (Bell,139 -142). Even though the article praises the book’s excellent writing, it neglects to give credit to Shelley as the author.
My point of view is that Shelley ought to be granted all the credit that is deserved for the book Frankenstein. After an in-depth investigation into the book’s past, I discovered that it was written by Mary Shelley and was her first published work. Percy Mary and Byron Lord are credited with having the notion of creating ghost tales around 1816, according to the documents that have been found. This occurred after each of them had studied the other scary tales. The most excellent narrative was written by Percy Mary (Camidge, 617-617). I believe that the author of the essay ought to do an extensive investigation into the question of who will be awarded credit for writing the book. Percy Shelley is credited with creating the original piece that became known as Frankenstein.
These two critiques unquestionably have many characteristics in common when compared to one another. Discrepancies in the book, which were required comments made by reviewers, are the basis for everyone’s contention that Shelley’s name should not be associated with Frankenstein but rather with her brother, Percy Shelley.
