Evaluation of Local Broadband Providers in the Rochester Area

Spectrum

HughesNet provides many additional services, such as the HughesNet Voice home phone service, which is priced at $29.95 per month (US News & World Report, 2023a). The US News and World Report provides that Viasat’s most expensive plan, the 100-150 Mbps option that costs $249.99 per month, is aimed at larger families who are browsing and streaming with speeds ranging from 100 to 150 Mbps and a large high-speed data allowance of 300-500 GB. All plans include 3 Mbps upload speeds, unlimited standard data, and a 24-month contract, with month-to-month options available with an upfront fee, allowing users to choose the most suitable plan based on their internet usage requirements.

Finally, the broadband landscape in Rochester presents a wide variety of providers that offer different services. Frontier is superior in its cost-effective plans, which are very affordable for people with different needs. Spectrum is a very viable and readily available option due to its clear pricing structure and also high speeds. HughesNet specializes in satellite internet and serves rural areas but imposes data caps, prompting the users to reflect on their use of the internet. Viasat, which has different plans, focuses on coverage and thus is ideal for users who are residing in rural areas. The local residents should adapt their preferences and also need to pick the best supplier of broadband in Rochester.
