Charity and impact off the court:
Since her retirement, Serena has had enough time to devote herself to charity work and help needy people. She has joined forces with UNICEF in supporting health campaigns in various parts of the world. In Ghana, she HAS devoted herself to patron UNICEF schools to ensure children from low-income backgrounds have access to the best education. Following Serena’s near-death experience while giving birth to her daughter Olympia, she became even more committed to helping new moms and their infants by endorsing the #EveryChildAlive movement. “Serena Williams has leveraged her status as a prominent, global sports person and personality to emphasize awareness and promote support for children and families in most need throughout the globe,” states Caroline Underwood, CEO of Philanthropy Company. But in classic Serena fashion, she didn’t stop there in her charitable efforts. The Yetunde Price Resource Center was established by the Serena Williams Foundation to remember Serena’s older sister.
