Early Childhood Education (ECE)

ECE is significant in every child’s life. Children’s cognitive ability usually reflects their achievement in tests crime activities (Heckman, 2011). Cognitive ability also contributes the character development in children, for instance, perseverance, self-control and motivation etc. Research shows that those who obtain a GED are less successful economically than those who graduate from high school. It has more to do with personal skills and character and not cognitive.

Article two: Immigrant families in Early Childhood Education Programs

Ecological challenges experienced by immigrants have negative impacts on the child’s development and success. However, not all immigrants embody the risks, contributing to variations in need among them (Vesely & Ginsberg, 2011). Developing immigrants’ resources and addressing other challenges like poverty and language may help the adverse academic outcomes among immigrant children.

The disparities such as having a different home and school language plus issues of access to quality child education affect the performance of immigrant children. Compared to other children with access to quality childhood education, immigrant children depict a lower level of performance. The early immigrant childhood development has to focus on language development throughout the child’s development, resulting in being at least one year behind their peers.

Early childhood education among immigrant children is crucial. First, it is associated with positive cognition (Vesely & Ginsberg, 2011). It is important to note that the educators serving immigrant families should know their lives, racial backgrounds, culture, and families. Early childhood education improves the educators’ cultural competence, which in turn improves their cognitive abilities. Second, early childhood education improves the social functions of immigrant children, and the interactions can be among themselves.

Early childhood education should be crucial in developing a child’s cognitive ability. From the article, it is evident that disadvantaged children tend to have lower performance than their peers with access to quality education.
