Decision-making is the situation of selecting an appropriate and effective master plan from two or more alternatives to prosper and reach the best success. Therefore, decision-making is the most important function of managers because they have influential decision-making tools to apply (Anbu, 2019). Decision-making is described as the essence of a manager’s job because it is exercised in all four managerial functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling (Anbu, 2019). In addition, the manager ensures that the team under his or her managerial career provides the work expected as agreed-to specifications the work, on a timely basis, and for the expected cost or less.
Additionally, the success of making decisions requires the manager to have master plans that constitute equally important skills like communications and finding the means to enable the team’s success. Also, managers establish the issues relating to planning, organizing, direction, coordination, and control through decisions that are enforced to function by the organization’s officials (Bousdekis et al., 2021). As a result, Objectives, goals, organizational designs, and policies are tabled and discussed to determine the implementation of the enterprise. Decisions are essential in solving the problems within the organization and maximizing the advantages of the opportunities available (Kheybari, Mahdi, & Rezaei, 2021). Hence, the managerial process is based on decisions to provide effective results and success since appropriate decisions limits uncertainties, complexities, and diversities of the organizational environments.
Consequently, it is preferable to include groups in decision-making rather than individuals because brings about a greater number of approaches to problem-solving, greater awareness, better comprehension of a problem and decision, improved acceptance of a decision, and an adequate number of alternatives (Abubakar et al., 2019). Therefore, decision-making leads to more concrete knowledge and a diversity of perspectives. As result, the discussion groups generate more options leading to better solutions in the decision-making process.
Furthermore, Apple Inc. produced iPhone 4 mode that has had a fallout after the customers complained about the product’s antenna problems that seemed to have plagued the phone. The risks merged as YouTube uploaded video clips showing how the model loses reception with different hand placements. This led to the loss of trust among the users as they reacted with replies that the company is in lacks customer concerns. The most important thing that the company should do is to have a well-organized meeting with its managerial team to discuss the issue. Moreover, I suggest that they give the customers’ service satisfaction priority and restore the missing data on the product and then take it to the marketplace. The organization needs to have effective elements that can enable it to convince its customers back to them. The team in decision-making should have qualities to drive the company to success towards the goal are should be aware of the objectives and goals as well.
Meanwhile, the managers can easily make better decisions by putting the strategies into action to avoid typical misinterpretations and approve their decision-making skills (Bousdekis et al., 2021). The strategies include formulating the problem, providing evidence-based decisions, challenging the status quo, acknowledging the mistake and proceeding, getting an outside perspective, developing an eye for risk, and being decisive (Abubakar et al., 2019). The strategies will make the company reach the appropriate decisions and help develop and grow. Hence, the strategies will boost decision-making and problem solving through evaluating problems, making choices, considering alternatives, and reviewing the necessary actions.
Conclusively, successful decision-making by managers through effective evaluation, analysis, and explanations in decisions portrays thoughtfulness and trustworthiness to employees and the customers. Although, it can feature how managers associates with clients and employees as well. The resulting effective decision-making reflects defined elements handled in a distinct sequence of steps.
