As much as it is wise to have patient recovery processes shared between patients and clinicians, family members have been noted to be core and essential to the speedy recovery of patients from the Critical Care Unit (CCU). While making patient care procedures, clinicians should consider the fastest and most effective clinical conditions for patient recovery. As it currently is, a visiting hours policy is in place barring visitors from accessing patients in the CCU. At the specific time, the hospital staff effectively provides patient care due to patients’ privacy and modesty. In a recent observation, however, based on numbers and figures, patients have responded faster and better to treatment while their families are around compared to being alone. Therefore, in our study, we shall focus and research the effectiveness of having family members in CCU for fast vital response and recovery rates for patients.
To have an effective research study and conclusive findings, there is a need to have a solid statement that has specific expectations related to the study and those that will be tested for an effective result for a conclusion. Notably, our study’s hypotheses shall identify two independent and dependent variables and show the close link and relationship between the two. Above and beyond, the hypotheses shall find an answer to a question, which shall be our research question (Clark & Vealé, 2018). By predicting different variables that will show the viability of our research, our study shall have solid conclusions at the end. Additionally, our research shall have a research question that will guide us through our research. The purpose of our research shall be to act as a pathfinder and guide and show the relationship between the independent and dependent variables (Hulsen, Jamuar, Moody, Karnes, Varga, Hedensted … & McKinney, 2019). By so doing, solid and fact-based clinical findings will be recorded, guiding us in our decision-making and actualization of evidence-based practice, as is our clinical role.
Aside from establishing the relevance and importance of having hypotheses and a research question, coming up with hypotheses and research questions. The two should solve the underlying problem at hand and work to provide further proposals and recommendations related to patient care in the presence of family members. While developing our hypotheses, making sure that it is working is core since it aids in guiding us as researchers through our research journey with a specific path (Clark & Vealé, 2018). Deviation and taking unnecessary navigations is hence rare due to the presence of a working set of hypotheses. With the area of research narrowed down and delimited into specifics, we as researchers are assured of sharpened thinking through our research.
Moreover, with working hypotheses related to our study, the important aspects of patient care related to our research shall be focused on, leaving our unnecessary facades of the problem under our research. Additionally, having a working hypothesis ensures that the research’s evidence is testable and valid for accurate research findings (Taguchi, 2018). Workable and viable research questions are important in equal measure for the success of a research project. A well-described guide for our research paper is assured with workable research questions in place. Therefore, no major mishaps and research disruptions shall be noted. With such, our research findings are assured of a solid finding that resolves the underlying problems as stated in our problem statement (Pallmann, Bedding, Choodari-Oskooei, Dimairo, Flight, Hampson, L. V… & Jaki, 2018). A clear focus and purpose in a research project might be underrated but is always paramount in achieving research findings that are well siphoned and accurate in their proposals. Developing workable hypotheses and research questions, in general, have been noted to have positive effects on a research project (Taguchi, 2018). In combination, both enable a researcher to have a specified search of the literature available with less extra data that might be irrelevant for the research study. With an appropriate scope of literature in place, research findings are expected to be precise too. Lastly, having workable hypotheses and research questions ensures that a suitable and perfect research design is selected and put into action for conclusive and viable research findings.
The nature of our research shall be well aided by quantitative analysis, majorly because it shall focus on psychometric characteristics. Notably, the reliability and validity of the outcomes measures shall be under review by our research. Therefore, numbers shall be used in quantitative analysis to determine the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. With research skills revolving around clinical problems such as ours that can be resolved through research, quantitative data through the study of subjects shall effectively achieve thorough research (Clark & Vealé, 2018). Our case study needs to identify the number of patients showing positive treatment responses when their family members are around. To be precise, quantitative research can o ahead and categorize the patients into sub-categories to fully understand the effects of patients’ family members being around in the CCU while the patients receive medical care. Therefore, categories shall be made available by categorizing data, facts, and figures guiding the above findings (Hulsen. et al., 2019). Nonetheless, the qualitative research method shall be used as complementary to the quantitative techniques used. By so doing, the research scope will not only be specific but expansive, leaving any feedback and innovation undiscovered.
Regarding whether to develop a hypothesis or a research question, developing a hypothesis shall be applied to uncover resources that shall aid our research. A testable and valuable hypothesis shall be developed (Taguchi, 2018). A null hypothesis shall be used for our study since patients’ lives in the CCU are in line and are dependent on our research findings (Pallmann et al., 2019). While developing a hypothesis, a deductive approach shall be taken up with three hypotheses being developed before testing and summarizing them.
