Climate Change Paper

A social crisis is any circumstance or social conduct that has a detrimental effect on a great group of individuals and is primarily recognized as a circumstance or conduct pattern that needs to be resolved. Climate change is an example of a current social problem confronting the world (Hamilton, 2018). Climate change is the regular change of the Planet’s temperature driven by modifications in the surroundings and relations between the environment and different geomorphologic, chemical, and natural factors on the surface of the Earth. Global warming is the primary contributor to climate change, which has adverse implications for the system of human beings and the natural environment. The greenhouse gasses, a biological process where the atmosphere preserves some of the heat from the sun, allow the Planet to keep up with these changes for living. Without the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the average global temperature would be negative eighteen degrees Celsius (Sorg, 2012). The issue is that people’s daily activities increase the greenhouse gases, causing the Earth’s natural temperature to rise even further. Even though many environmental researchers believe that climate change exists and is significant, more people still believe it is not a problem.

Climate change has had a wide range of effects on the Planet. Global warming has catastrophic consequences, threatening the existence of the Planet’s fauna and flora, including humans. The worst impacts of climate change include melting glaciers at the north and south poles, which creates sea level rise, flooding, and threats to coastal regions, endangering tiny island nations with extinction (Sorg, 2012). Climate change also causes more violent extreme weather events, such as dry spells, wildfire, the death of species of plants and animals, flooding from waterbodies, the formation of climate refugees, and the damage to the food supply chain and resources, particularly in developing countries. Through damage to the food chain, many animals and plants end up not starving and even dying or have terrible health conditions due to a lack of food and nutrition for their daily activities. High temperatures result in drought, poverty and health issues are evident in areas that experience dry spells. They have no advanced technology to combat the effects of climate change, resulting in the death of people due to a lack of food to eat. The bodies of water are also carbon sinks, soaking up to 50 percent of CO2 (Sorg, 2012). The issue is when they meet their threshold, the underwater acidifies, causing death and suffering in ocean life. The acids are also not great for the health of every human as drinking water from these water bodies may result in diseases, thereby causing harm and even death to the system of human beings.

There are numerous causes of climate change. The release of greenhouse gases is a significant contributor to climate change. Methane gas, nitrogen oxide, and Hydrochlorofluorocarbons contribute to climate change, primarily caused by coal use for electricity generation, transportation, and related industries (Dietz, 2020). Another major contributor to climate change is illegal logging. Vegetation and tropical forests are rapidly disappearing. Climatic change can be attributed to each individual because each human action contributes significantly to climatic change. Cutting down trees or emitting gasses into the environment is a personal choice that, if made, can be changed to help stop climate change.

One way to address the issue of climate change is to mitigate its adverse effects, which entails minimizing and limiting greenhouse gas emissions to keep the Earth’s natural temperature from rising further (Fawzy, 2020). These actions include increasing investments in renewable energy, saving energy, transitioning to a reduced carbon use economy, electrifying production methods, and implementing efficient transportation methods such as electronically controlled public transportation, sharing cars, and cycling. Another method is environmental adaptation, which focuses on initiatives to reduce frailty in the face of the consequences of climate change, such as infrastructural development. Also, attempting to make amenities more secure and adaptable, purification of water and treatment, planting trees, and scenery reconstruction, versatile and diversified agriculture to be ready for environmental hazards, and the ability to anticipate these catastrophic events and engage in research into their actions (Hamilton, 2018).

Another solution is international agreements because data analysis and global partnership are critical in combating climate change. The intergovernmental panel on climate change is among the most devoted agencies in analyzing the effect of humans on the environment and suggesting viable approaches where worldwide commitments and agreements are made to seek a coherent strategy to fight climate change (Fawzy, 2020).

The best solution is focusing on reducing the increase in the climatic change as through each accepting the problem and changing there are actions of how they interact with the environment and others can help reduce the climate changes as human beings are the cause for most climate change through their daily activities such emission of the greenhouse gasses that result to the depletion of the ozone layer and cutting down of trees which result to drought and starvation in poorly developed countries. The depletion by greenhouse gas emissions allows the sun’s rays to firmly hit the ground without a blanket to stop the high temperature and increase global warming and radiation on the surface of the Earth. Thereby coming up with strategies and people accepting to change how they interact with the environment, for example, not depositing waste in water bodies and adopting some renewable sources of energy to help combat the consequences of climate change. If not followed by the people, coming up with activities and strategies will result in no positive change, but if people decide to work on the transition through positive steps, it can help reduce climate change.
