Jewish were awaiting a liberator to free them from the Romans; hence when Jesus came and died on the cross, Christianity became a significant movement and spread to every corner with the help of his disciples. There is a social factor that significantly helped in the spread of Christianity as a religion. The peace of Rome, Easy travel, and standard language played a significant role in spreading Jesus’ teachings. Rome’s powerful army could maintain peace, thus facilitating the easy spread of Christianity, unlike the information blackouts that mostly accompanied the war. The early Christians who took advantage of Rome’s peace spread the message about the coming of Messiah Jesus.
Additionally, Rome was advanced in technology that enabled them to have a reliable road system in the entire empire (Samples, 2021). Christian missionaries like Apostle Paul found new churches across the Roman work facilitated by reliable roads. Nevertheless, the Mediterranean world had two common languages, Latin and Greek, the same languages, used to write the New Testament in the Bible. The language used to write the New Testament was a common language; thus, the gospel could spread without the problem of the language barrier. The stability of the Mediterranean and the Roman Empire helped the Christina message to spread rapidly everywhere.
Jesus’ movement developed from being a small Jewish sect in the suburbs of the Roman Empire to becoming the official religion of Caesar’s kingdom. Two cultural factors significantly contributed to the flourishing of Christianity in ancient roman. Christian aid, charity, and Christianity’s freedom from class distinctions were the two major contributing cultural factors to spreading the belief. Morality was critical to Christina considering the teaching of Jesus Christ that all humans were made in the image and likeness of God. The early Christian church believed in aid, which saw them providing food, clothing, and shelter to the poor. The poor in the Roman Empire had no safety net safe for Christians who shared what they had with them despite their beliefs. The early Christina community that helped during natural disasters and infectious diseases set up Additionally, hospitals and schools (White, 2021). The non-Christians were profoundly influenced and attracted by these acts of charity that had the philosophy of life that cared for individuals who were not doing well economically.
Additionally, believers in primitive Christianity set aside distinctions such as race and gender when talking about Christianity. Diverse people were brought together as brothers and sisters in the lord with the unity that Christian religion spread by eliminating class distinctions. The Christian beliefs were distinct from the cultural norms of the Roman Empire, thus encouraging many women and slaves to subscribe to the religion. The masses of the ancient world were attracted by the Christina message and belief that advocated for forgiveness and acceptance despite skin color, class status, or sex.
Religious factors such as courageous martyrs, Christianity’s gracious plan of salvation, and the universal world of the Apostle Paul contributed to the rapid spread of Christianity. Despite the debates about the extent of persecution Christians experienced in the Roman Empire, there is no debate that the heroic death of early Christians had a positive impact in attracting non-believers in the Christina religion (Aldrete, 2021). The non-believers could not join Christianity if the martyrs did not risk their lives for a belief they were not invested in. Additionally, the view that salvation is a gift from God to every human being regardless of origin or race differed from what various philosophers were spreading in ancient times. The philosophy teaching instilled fear in people regarding various theories; however, this differed from what the apostles were preaching. Apostle Paul and other early Christians preached the message of love that restored the human faith in the Christina religion.
