Introduction
Valle del Lili is a foundation that provides healthcare services and hospital management (Cajiao & Ramírez, 2016). The Switch Framework offers a helpful manual for efficiently handling the change. It highlights the importance of shaping the process and compares the emotional and rational components of change to the Rider and the Elephant on a path. Three main components of the Switch framework must be addressed to apply this approach to the Valle del Lili Foundation’s (VLF) SAP implementation: Directing the Rider, Motivating the Elephant, and Shaping the Path.
Directing the Rider
Giving clear directions is the first step. This is accomplished by outlining the change’s necessity clearly. In the case of VLF, highlight how the company’s objectives for improved patient care, safety, and operational effectiveness align with the SAP implementation (Cajiao & Ramírez, 2016). Draw attention to the advantages, which include enhanced information traceability, more straightforward procedures, and better accuracy of medical records. Scripting the Critical Moves is also important. One should Specify the essential actions needed for a successful SAP adoption. Create a comprehensive plan involving all relevant parties, including nurses, physicians, and office workers. Indicate how each person and department will contribute to the change (Abbas, 2023). For instance, nurses must be proficient in using the new electronic medical records system, and doctors must enter medical orders into SAP.
Motivating the Elephant
Finding the feeling is the next step. Highlight the benefits of the shift for staff productivity and patient care to appeal to their emotions. Highlight the experiences and lessons learned from other healthcare providers who have successfully implemented similar systems. Give an example of how the modification supports VLF’s objective to deliver excellent medical care (cajiao & Ramírez, 2016). Also, break down the SAP implementation process into achievable, manageable steps. Introduce modules to workers gradually rather than introducing the entire system simultaneously (Abbas, 2023). Shaping the Path
Tweaking the environment is the other method under `shaping the path.’ Create an environment that encourages the process of change.
