Community Health System

The Community health system is a profit healthcare organization in Franklin, Tennessee, that operates several hospitals and healthcare facilities in the United States. The purpose and goal of the community health system is to provide quality healthcare services that meet the needs of diverse communities (Hill, 2021). The main aim is to deliver comprehensive care, improve patients’ Health, and provide a better healthcare experience.

Regarding the number of hospitals and beds in a given community health system and their location, it is important to note that the community health system operates approximately 117 health facilities of hospitals across 20 states in the United States and at least 19000 beds (Sanborn, 2018). The numbers keep changing due to the gradual increase of the facilities in different states.

The community health system provides a wide range of healthcare services. Their target market is broad, including children, youths, and adults. The services are offered to all members regardless of gender, socio-economic class, and identity. They provide comprehensive care that entails medical surgical services, emergency and outpatient services, radiology, obstetrics and gynecology, oncology and palliative care, and other specialized units. Health education and outreach programs are also services offered by the community health systems.

The health care organization needs leaders to ensure smooth learning. The chosen leaders should be able to implement strategic management and adapt to new changes (Moseley, 2017). Regarding leadership and governing, the CHS leadership consists of a Chief executive officer and a board of directors. Wayne T smith is the current CEO of CHS (Sanborn, 2018). The organization is governed by a board of members who provide strategic guidance and play a role in decision-making. The board of directors answers to the chief executive officer based on which department each member men. Management in a CHS or any other organization may help strategic management.

The CHS was founded and has existed since 1985 hence growing and developing to being one of the largest healthcare providers in America. In 1996 they offered their first public service. The CHS has expanded its potential by increasing the number of hospitals to harness more clients. The hospitals are acquired through partnerships, with the main goal of providing quality, effective and efficient care to all communities nationwide.

CHS’s decision to sell Mary’s black health system is triggered by the long-term strategic plan to optimize its portfolio of hospitals and focus on the major markets. The CEO of CHS claims that sales are a strategy to help them gain more income annually by increasing their resources where they have greater opportunities. Advertising via television and emails is also a strategy the CHS uses to reach its potential clients (Moseley, 2017). However, Mary Black Hospital is not the only hospital on sale; Spartanburg Hospital in Carolina was also on sale. The main reason behind the sale may include factors such as financial performance, market trends, and strategic alignment. Furthermore, CHS has sold other hospitals apart from Mary Black as part of its ongoing evaluation and extension program.

The relationship between CHS and Health Management Associates came after CHS acquired the ownership rights of HMA, a healthcare organization. The acquisition allowed the CHS to expand its health facilities and strengthen its presence in major towns. Resources and health care practitioners were one of the benefits that CHS acquired, enhancing their ability to deliver health care services.

In conclusion, Community health systems are mandated to provide health care services despite being a profit organization. Its development has been based on acquisitions, partnerships, and utilizing the available opportunities. The leaders know how the health system works since they have expertise in specific fields. The organization should be innovative and keen on its practices and cultures, which can result in poor outcomes (Cadence, 2022). Financial constraints are a challenge the CHS has encountered before, but the strategic plan of moving to better niches has helped them overcome gross losses.
