Introduction
Leadership is a tradition of abilities and definite psychology that facilitates an individual to motivate or influence others to help them achieve their life goals and build their skills (Guterresa, Armanu, & Rofiaty, 2020). In other words, leadership involves strategies, commitment, compliance, and objectives that focus on identifying personal or group abilities. Every leader has the vital management function of building efficiency to archive objectives. A leader may not display or possess power and not be popular, but capable of influencing others year after year. Leadership is essential as it helps to create a vision and brings the individual to a common cause (Essa & Alattari, 2019). Moreover, leadership is essential in decreasing mistakes while increasing workplace efficiency. Leadership also creates a friendly atmosphere of respect and trust, thus improving the organization or individual’s productivity. Therefore, this paper focuses on integrating sell assessment with personal leadership.
Leadership Potential
Being purposeful is always the first reflection of my leadership potential. I am always focused on being useful by making a difference in who I am and what I can archive. In a nutshell, being purposeful in life displays my potential to inspire, shape and raise my potential and influence individuals, cultures, and companies around me.
Managerial Leadership
Human and interpersonal skills are my most vital managerial skills as a leader. As a social creature, I developed effective communication through interaction and being close to people.
Leadership Style
As a leader, I always incorporate a participative leadership style. According to Essa & Alattari (2019), the participative leadership style is an interactive attitude leaders engage in encouraging collaboration through accountability successfully. The definition has two significant meanings to me. First, the definition means that all leaders work closely with their associates to build rapport and strong relationships. Secondly, leaders with a particular leadership style involve the entire team. The participative leadership style provides the highest empowerment since team members’ opinions and skills are valued and acknowledged.
X and Y
Indeed, behavior tends to be consistent with our assumptions, and both play a significant role in an attempt to influence others. My reflection outlines that rewards and punishment have an impact on motivation. However, it appears to be an outdated model, and grating a sharing and collaborative atmosphere has a significant impact.
Ethical Behaviour
Developing a testimonial concerning the broad side of my ethical code, I had to reflect on my culture’s morals and ethical standards. I was raised in a religiously diverse nation where values and integrity matter. Therefore, ethics helped me to build a way to a better life. My principles of punctuality have been molded through family inspiration. My parents always attended every day of work and departed to work on time. Moreover, my ethical behavior of following rules of conduct has been through life experience and religious influence. Throughout my childhood have been living and operating under rules of conduct. School life and religious teaching have enabled me to always stick to laid rules of conduct and enjoy the benefit.
Job Motivation
Job motivators are essential for various reasons, including improving relationships and boosting productivity. Achievement is one of my top job motivators because the desire to obtain something planned encourages me to learn new things, develop creative ideas, and perform well in various teams.
Political Behaviour
Political behavior is a vital tool that improves communication and relationships. Public speaking is my political behavior which allows me to express my views on social and political issues.
Communication Style
Understanding your communication style facilitates effective communication with people having different styles (Essa & Alattari, 2019). Assertive communication is my communication style because I like direct and honest communication of my thoughts while respecting the ideas of others.
Effective Followership
I am an effective follower since my qualities match those of effective followership. I confidently accept responsibility, am challenged to accept change, and serve organizational needs wholeheartedly.
Transformational Leadership
I am a transformational leader driven by inspiration and individual consideration. I can recognize the needs of others, and I use this knowledge to influence others positively.
Personal values
My values are those meaningful things that influence my daily decisions and actions. I stand for gratitude, respect, freedom, love, and integrity to carry me through life. Moreover, these values determine my leadership and the working environment.
Summary and Conclusions
As indicated earlier, participative leadership, also known as a democratic leadership style, is the most appropriate for me for different reasons. This approach motivates me to participate in processes that share people’s views. In other words, this leadership style guides me to execute decisions based on the contributions of each individual involved. Among the many benefits of participative leadership is its significant role in promoting diversity and inclusivity since it encourages active participation.
Generally speaking, leaders must understand more about their leadership competencies for many reasons. This leadership assessment has helped me discover my leadership strengths and weaknesses. This improved my self-awareness by informing me about the kind of leader I am and the things to work on. An interesting thing I learned from this assessment is that I possess a strong personality. I have a strong personality because I am understanding and a well-informed leader. I am also focused, optimistic, and determined, which are empowering qualities of any leader.
Excellent leadership is crucial to success not only in organizations but also in individuals. Becoming an effective leader requires transparency and the ability to reflect. I want to be a considerate and kind leader who treats people equally with thoughtfulness and reverence (Essa & Alattari, 2019). Therefore, I would develop leadership skills that can improve my understanding and give me insights to make correct decisions. At the same time, I would like to be an exemplary follower who contributes to the growth of others. Besides, exemplary followership emphasizes enhancing efficiency and productivity. Therefore, I want to be a leader who establishes high expectations and encourages employees to achieve them.
To become an empathetic leader, I must learn to be aware of the needs of others, remain non-judgmental towards others’ views, remain tolerant and resilient, and demonstrate empath at all levels (Malakyan, 2023). In other words, I must learn to work on improving people’s lives. An exemplary follower must learn humility, consider and respect work ethics and encourage teamwork. Notably, being a follower can come naturally, while some must learn to take responsibility for being a good follower. An exemplary follower contributes to teamwork by offering meaningful views for anticipated leadership opportunities.
